Holiday Inn Knoxville N - Merchant Drive, an IHG Hotel

I stayed here three years ago, with a couple of my family members, and felt comfortable and safe. When another trip to Knoxville came up, this Holiday Inn was automatically my first choice. Staff is helpful, beds are comfortable, rooms are huge (at least my two have been). The only thing I don't like is the position of the towel racks by the sink; for those of us who stand when washing our hands, we either have to push the towel to one end and stand very awkwardly to avoid our clothes touching it, or we lean right into it and it gets totally contaminated by our clothes. Could there please be a rack on the wall above the sink?

Parking was really bad during my stay due to some pre-existing construction in the parking lot. Besides that everything was good. Most of the people staying there seemed to be traveling sports families.

I want a refund as we had to switch rooms twice. The first room there was an indent of someone laying in the king size bed. Then there was fecal matter in the toilet. I called down and let them know and they had me come down to switch rooms. They said they knew some lady and her kids were only in that room for 20 minutes before we got there. The woman had issues with the room and requested to be moved. They said they had to move her 3 times. The second room was not the king size bed I paid for and there was black mold all over the ceiling of the bathroom along with bubbles and chipping paint. At this point I didn’t even call them I was so tired from 16 hours of driving. When I checked out the host didn’t even ask how was my stay which is always a standard question. I the the host knew my stay was terrible and from the mold I woke and couldn’t breath well and my nose was completed stuffed. I’m allergic to mold so the was so wrong. I should be getting a refund without questions.

Check in was fine. Within 30 mins of getting into our room, another family had a key and walked into our room! 5 mins later a hotel clerk came up and said they double booked our room. The next night we didn’t get back until late and neither one of our keys would work, we had to go back down down to the desk for them to reset our keys! It was just a headache!
