Sleep Inn At Harbour View

It was out of the way of the main tourist areas, quiet, no childern hollering and unattended.

Our first night there, from 12:45am until 3:00am (because I looked at the clock when it woke me up and when it stopped) there were kids running through hall, yelling and shouting at one another at opposite ends of the hall, slamming doors and banging on walls in their, who was next to ours. We ended up sleeping at total of about 4 hours this first night. When we spoke to the front desk later that morning, they were aware of the situation already and moved us to a different room, two floors up. The water in that room had a musty smell and horrible taste, so we bought a case of bottled water and used this to drink and brush our teeth. The next 5 nights we had no issues however, our final night was as bad, if not worse than the first night, as kids were running in the halls and their parents were yelling and cursing them from down the hallway. They also kept slamming doors and knocking on doors until 1:00am. Then it sounded like a dog barking in their room in the middle of the night. Needless to say the 9 hour drive home the next morning, felt like an eternity due to lack of sleep. This was our favorite place to stay when visiting the North Myrtle Beach/Little River area. However, this will be the last time we stay at the Harbor View Sleep Inn.

Not a place I would have normally chosen, but there were really no other options that were not $250.00/night or more. We were just going to be sleeping there as we were visiting family and would at their condo most of the time. The bed was comfortable, I thought the room/shower/bath were clean. There were people out side smoking at the entrance a good bit. The building next store is abandon, and looks really bad. The hallway the first night smelled like smoke, even thought it is a non smoking facility, but I have had that even at 5star hotels. Over all not a bad stay.

While the staff was wonderful and accommodating the hotel itself was just not well maintained. The room was very old and so outdated and the bathroom we had was not ideal for a family of 4 it was way too small. It was just a toilet and shower with a pocket door and the sink was on the outside of the bathroom. Breakfast was only waffles and packaged food had to be heated by microwave not very great. Last year we stayed at a different Hotel, and we might go back to that one when we come down to visit our family. Sorry will not stay at this hotel again.

Of course, like all hotels it seems, it was in the process of upgrading certain features. The important issue was the TV service. My room was not initially uploaded to the new cable provider. Then still had issues after the upload. Don't think the remote was compatible with the new service. 2- The phone in the room didn't work at all.(Upgrade?). 3- The shower stall floor was so slippery that I predict there will be an incident in the future unless it is addressed. 4- The toilet seat belonged on a child's toilet. 5- The room carpet needed a steam clean. A little sticky.

The hotel was overall clean but the smell of weed was nearly constant. I couldn't take the kids out to the pool without smelling it from around the side of the building. This may or may not have been hotel staff, we couldn't see who it was coming from. We smelled it inside the hotel as well in the halls/elevator...
