Aloft Wilmington at Coastline Center

We stayed for 4 nights and had 3 rooms. The staff were exceptional!! The food and atmosphere at rooftop bar was great!! Loved the coffee shop and outdoor seating area. Location is perfect to access downtown by foot. Also loved the lobby are with lots of room for our family game night x 3. Will definitely stay here again!!

Property had an urban feel to it which I liked, but overall I wasn't crazy about the room layout. There was no privacy to the shower stall. If you had kids in the room with you or if you were rooming with another couple, everyone could've seen you naked in the shower. No air ventilation for steam from the shower which caused the smoke alarm to go off and the whole room to become humid. Doors were extremely heavy and hard to open. No microwave in room. Plus we weren't given the room we reserved and ended up paying more for a room that we didn't choose, which I will be taking up with the hotel management tomorrow. Not a place I'd choose again, but if you can look past what I've mentioned, the boardwalk along the river is nice.

Our room was pretty sad. - Shampoo and body wash were both empty. - The shower leaked all over the floor. - There was no way to close off the shower from the living space for privacy. Maybe makes sense for a room with 1 king but we were a family of 4 in a double room. - The sink faucet did not go over the sink bowl enough, so a huge mess was made when washing hands. - The toilet stopped working. The design and vibe were cool, but it lacked in function. Not worth the price tag.

I was not able to check in due to system was down. I arrived about 8:50 PM to check in and was told to wait about two hours to see if the system is up and running. Or find a different hotel. After driving for about 12 hours I was drained and was not able to wait an additional two hours due to the time of the day I needed something that was guaranteed. I was not going to wait till 10:45 PM to call back or come back to the hotel to see if there would be a room available for my family and I.

Don’t like the fact that a room with two queen beds only has an open partition between the beds and the shower and there is a mirror on the wall that lets you see around the partition. Didn’t work for a family with older kids.

The hotel is located withing walking distance to downtown and convention center. It meets the Marriot's family standard. Service was excellent but the Banging of super heavy doors can be heard thru out the night. Would I stay there again NO!
