Golden Sands Oceanfront Hotel

The indoor pool was closed due to maintenance, this was not related to us upon reservation. The weather was bad and the kids could not use the indoor swimming pool. No room service was made. Overall, it was not such a joyful experience.

The hotel was very clean and family friendly, loved the ocean front view and only having just steps from the beach, the location was awesome close to the boardwalk and shopping, also because I have arthritis loved having a walk in shower and a very comfortable bed, my family and I are looking forward to spending another vacation at this hotel.

No maid service unless you request it. Fridge was not cold. Beds were somewhat comfortable. If you are talking kids you need to upgrade to a bigger room. Very small walkway between the bed and the dresser.

The bath room door inside and out was dirty, hair in the bathroom. Plus tye amount of sand that was left in the room and the floor wasn't clean either left me to do a complete wipe down to see what else was dirty. Surfaces was clean but they gots to do more to keep sand out of the room for the next guest. As well as to the amount of $ they taking in to not offer something for breakfast just unheard of and just being greedy. Great location and to make a second car platform parking when you already making $ for public parking is another show of just how greedy the new owners are. They better finish the upgrades too for rails are peeling and looking weathered don't mix with the other areas they have redone. The indoor pool area was smelly so forget about even going in. The staff was excellent and that helped with they less then desired accommodations. It's very good size for a family.

My family of 5 came to Carolina Beach to celebrate my sister’s 50th. The front staff were very kind and helpful. Check in was easy and went smoothly. The property was ok to say the least. The only real negative issue was there was a strong urine smell in multiple places such as the stairwell. As much as I loved being at the beach I do not think I would return to this hotel.

The renovations and lovely staff could not make up for the fact that this location is extremely overpriced. They put lipstick on a pig and let families of 8 stay in one room and take over both pools. The location between the tiki bar and the public access created a prime location for groups of drunk 20-somethings. We rented the umbrella and chairs but large groups came and build entire compounds in front of us and blocked our beautiful view. They were smoking weed, swearing loudly and were practically naked. This was NOT a family friendly place. Our kids do not need to be exposed to people like this. When two of the men in front of us got into a fight and started throwing chairs we packed up and left. We saved for months to afford this family vacation but it was ruined by lowlifes and thugs which is apparently the clientele of this location. We could not use the pools either. We won’t be returning to Carolina Beach. It does not appear that we got the best rate either. Very disappointed. They should warn families with kids not to stay here.

Very family friendly…..

We had a great experience staying here! We got the king balcony ocean view room, the view was beautiful! They accommodated our baby with a travel crib in the room. We requested extra towels, when they came to drop them off they cleaned our bathroom too! It was greatly appreciated with all the sand from the beach making it into our room despite rinsing off before coming in! They are right on the beach which was a HUGE plus for us. We will be staying here again in the future!
