Mackinaw Beach & Bay Inn & Suites

Everything was great and I don’t mean to just find something to complain about, but there was enough trash on the beach that I actually picked up some of it myself while the kids swam. I’ve noticed this at other beach hotels too and always wondered why the hotels don’t have someone to frequently walk the beach area with a long grabber and a bag and just pick up the small loose trash.

I'd give this place MAYBE 2 stars. It does NOT deserve its current rating. If you're on a budget, it's OK at best. The pics on the site haven't been updated in years...neither has the decor. The pool was a big letdown. The whole pool area had a pungent chemical smell, and it wasn't just chlorine. Smelly and dark. I hesitated to let my kid in the pool for the 15min we were down there. Hundreds of mosquitos and No See Ums got in our room when you open the door. Not the hotel's fault! But they got through the window screen too. We had a swarm in our room. The double king beds are divided by the bathroom, which is fine if you want to keep the family separated. TV's were so dated you couldn't use a Roku or the like. Staff was lackadaisical. No turn down service for a two night stay. Wet towels pile up...and they won't bring towels or blankets to your room. You need to wait at the front desk for the staff to curmudgeonly bring you what you need. If you're just looking for a bed, it's fine. If you want to relax at a nice hotel, look further. Stay was very good. Plenty of space for our family. I wish that they had a continental breakfast because food in this town is expensive.

Clean large room. Perfect for family. My only complaint is the amount of chlorine in the pool and hot tub was too much. You sat in the hot tub and the steam burned your eyes because it was so much.

The property is dated but loved the location. Only a few min bike ride to the ferry, water front with a balcony and bridge view. Also the king suite was perfect with kids. There’s a separate area with a full bed and a pull out couch. It was clean but could use some updates.

The hotel was on the older side and updates have not been made. The beds were comfortable minus the pullout couch that should not have been counted as a sleeping option. Beautiful view of lake from a room with spider webs on the ceiling. There were two small TVs, one of which did not work. No breakfast included. But it did fit our family of five once we put the couch matress on the floor.

We loved our lake view and the room we choose was perfect fora family of 4 traveling with 2 teenage/adult daughters.

Excellent option for families, very clean and affordable. I stayed on a suite instead to pay for 2 rooms.

Do not book a deluxe room! It is exactly the same as the economy suite, except that it’s much more money per night. I brought this to the attention of the front desk and they wouldn’t refund the difference. Our stay was pretty good otherwise. Our room was clean and nice view, although a bit dated. The beach was dirty with goose poop, but there were loungers and fire pits. My family members in another room were kept awake from a large, noisy group arguing at the fire pit. I was told they are the owners, or related to the owners, so they are there every night. (Not sure if that’s true or not). The pool was okay. I’m not sure we’d stay there again or not.
