Aloft Portland, ME

I love this Aloft properties, and this one didn't disappoint. Apparently Portland had a flood hours before we arrived, but the staff had it under control by the time we arrived and it didn't impact us at all. One small comment is that the walls are a little thin - we were able to hear the people in the hall, the sound of the elevator and people shutting their doors - not something I've noticed at other hotels, but we still slept like babies, so everything else was perfectly comfortable. It's also a great location, so we would likely stay here again the next time we are in Portland.

We picked this property because it next to a family members condo. It was the prefect location to have a visit with family. Wish we could get this rate year round so we could visit more often.

Had occasion to interact with several staff members each of them was outgoing, personable & professional. The staff at Aloft are well above average. The basics of the rooms are fine. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, etc. We had two rooms as we changed rooms because the cable TV did not work int he first room. I am not a fan of the room setup. Clearly not meant for any two people whom were not very comfortable with one another. Our first room had the shower essentially in the same living area as the bed, only the commode was separated by a door. The rooms are small, no real workspace to speak of. There is an small & uncomfortable bench and a tiny kidney shaped table. There does not appear to be a business center and the lobby also did not lend itself to being able to catch up at the office. In the end, there are several chain hotels within a 2 minute walk from Aloft which offer better experience and there are others which are significantly less expensive which offer at least an equal experience. But again, friendliest staff I have interacted with in awhile at a hotel which was nice.

Hotel was a nice modern hotel with a large bar and games in lobby. The beds were comfortable, but the layout of the bathroom area was a bit awkward. The toilet was so loud when flushed and everything echoed. No privacy. It would have been fine if travelling alone but with a family, it was a bit uncomfortable. Valet service available but some street parking available as well.
