Admiral's Inn on Tybee Island

When we arrived it was a bit before our check in time so the room was not ready but the young lady at the front desk offered to call us when it was. She was very pleasant and ended up calling to let us know we could check in about an hour later. When we came back a few hours later to check in the shift had changed and there was a different woman there. When we walked in she did not speak and I was just standing at the desk, she did not look up to acknowledge us so I had to say hello first and let her know we were checking in. We thought it was strange but brushed it off. The hotel does not have stairs but that is stated on the website, I just wish you could choose if you wanted a room downstairs because we were traveling with small children. The hotel website advertises free breakfast but they stated due to Covid they no longer offer it which is kind of weird considering it’s almost 2025 and no other precautions were being taken. Just say you don't offer it anymore and be done. The room was clean but the beds were very uncomfortable and the ac did not get as cold as it should have been. We were hot but dealt with it because it was only one night. Also the shower heads did not work correctly. The rain shower part was just random drips like it was clogged and the bathroom sink sprayed out in every direction when you turned the water on. Seems like calcium build up on both spouts was the issue. Check out was easy as the same pleasant woman from the day before was back.

When we arrived at the front door, two women were exiting and immediately lit cigarettes. As we passed them, one of them asked if we were checking-in? I said yes, and she begrudgingly put out her cigarette. What employees at a hotel smoke right near the front door? After checking in, I used the restroom downstairs-completely disgusting, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. Then, as we're walking up the stairs in the corridor to go to our room, overwhelming smell of marijuana all the way to our room. We're with our young kids, so we're obviously concerned. We open our door to our room, and it smells overwhelmingly of cleaner and scent(glade/lysol) It's so strong, it's burning our eyes within 60 seconds of entering the room. Clearly being used to cover up Pot smell. My wife and I discuss for about another minute or two without touching anything in the room, and decide it's unacceptable to stay with our kids there. We immediately head back down stairs to inform the front desk. This time, there's a completely different person behind the desk - and she's dressed inappropriately to be working in a hotel (seductively is a nice way). My wife tells her about the issues, and for the reasons listed already, that we would not be able to stay. She agreed and said she doesn't "really even work here" and would leave a note for the manager and he would call us in the morning. Finally heard back today, and they declined our refund after the woman up front agreed. Unreal

Me and my family walked in the lobby not knowing that customer service was sitting outside. We passed by her as we know she saw us. We stood in the lobby for at least 15 min waiting for someone to assist us. We were standing in front of the glass door so she saw when we were standing in the lobby.

The customer service was exceptional. It was like staying with family. I can’t remember a time when someone cared so much about my comfort!

They stay was terrific. I was visiting family for Thanksgiving. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Rhe riom was very comfortable.

Overall a family friendly place, the pool is kind of small. The ac in our room "worked", but not very well, it got hot during the night. The shower looked upgraded but the shower head had terrible water pressure, there was a handheld shower head in the shower and it worked ok.

Staff handled the situation with the orange crush festival very well and made my family feel safe and comfortable

Family trip The lady at the front desk (evening shift) was very helpful with directions and went out of her way to open the pool. Beds were hard, shower water pressure was low and we could hear the weather reports going off in the room next door. I can’t complain about the noises though because we aren't a quiet family. We would stay again though. It is located a block away from the pier and many little shops!
