Overview

The Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf offers a mixed bag for families. While some families appreciate the great breakfast, fun pool, and convenient in-room kitchen, others find the rooms too small, particularly for larger families. The hotel's location on The Wharf provides easy access to family-friendly attractions, including Hanks Oyster Bar, the fish market, an arcade, and a pier. It's also within walking distance of the mall and Smithsonian museums, although the walk might be a bit far for very young children, especially in warmer weather. The parking situation is a factor to consider, with some guests finding it expensive.

The hotel was average and met the basic needs of the family. Elevators are hot. Breakfast was ok. Made single reservation but check in was different. Last minute advisory that the couldn’t not accommodate my request, so I was stuck. Wanted adjoining room, but there’s up charge for this. Not sure as clients why no one think these request aren’t important. We felt it was unprofessional. Overall if you want to have a room for basic needs, nothing fancy, it works.

A wonderful stay for our family. Breakfast was great, the pool was fun, the in-room kitchen was the best! We didn’t use it to cook, but we could have. We used the refrigerator/freezer to store ice cream treats, beverages and snacks we got from the Safeway a few blocks away. That saved a lot of money. It was fun to walk the wharf. Clean, beautiful, couldn’t ask for more

Terrible sleeper sofa. Room was very small for family of 4. Ice maker in hallway had water rushing constantly!

We reserve the room for three (two adults one child), but the room was for two people . Hotel suggested not to use third-parties for reservation

We were two adults and a 2/1/2 year old child in a double queen bed room the size of a large closet. There was hardly room to turn around in. The space between the windows and bed was very narrow. The bathroom was extremely small with one small sink and no room on the sink area for any toothbrushes, etc. My daughter works and the desk area was very small. Very unsatisfactory room. The closet had no room to hang clothes.... most of hanging space taken up by an ironing board. The coffee brewing area, too, was small. I will not be using Hyatt again!! Very expensive for what we got for 5 nights!

I liked the breakfast available and enjoyed the cleanliness of the hotel. I was a little disappointed of the lack of food choices near the hotel for families.

The staff was really friendly! The front desk wasn’t helpful regarding parking. Read the signs in the garage and self park is simple, no reason to need valet. Hanks Oyster Bar downstairs at the warf was amazing. The fish market, arcade, and pier were a ton of fun for my kiddos. The rooftop pool is a little over 4 feet deep and perfect for my emerging swimmers. It was a little walk to the mall and various Smithsonian museums. My 6 year old twins did get tired in the heat, but managed to make the walk with minimum complaining. Overall a really fun vacation!

When we arrived, the hotel had given away our pre-paid suite and was fairly unapologetic about putting us in a different room. They moved us into the correct room for the second night of our reservation, but that meant packing/unpacking twice. Maybe due to the time of year (summer weekend), the hotel was full of families with children. Breakfast is chaotic and not very good. The lobby area is generally pleasant and the rooms are fine.

Staff was fantastic! They were very friendly and attentive to our needs. A hot tasty complimentary breakfast. Next vacation, my family will look to find another Hyatt House. Thank you!

$60 parking per night. A tiny pool that the pictures make look huge. The hotel was overbooked so we couldn't get a room for my family. We had to be split in two rooms. For $400/night, it was very disappointing.
