Rather than get up very early on a Monday to get to Heathrow, we decided to book a room at the Aerotel.
It took some time to find the hotel after disembarking from the Heathrow Express.
First there are signs, then there aren't signs so you keep walking and hope you can find it. Seeing the final sign at the entrance was a relief. The "lobby" opens right into terminal 3. Check in was lovely, a very nice woman helped us. We had a "family room" with 2 beds and I found the size adequate for two people and 3 large bags. The room was set up with complimentary waters, instant coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. There were also some sandwiches and snacks available for purchase in the lobby.
The room was quiet, which was great for our needs. As others have mentioned, there are two green lights in the ceiling and they were a bit distracting. There are no windows, but not a great loss as we just needed to sleep.
Beds were comfortable, Towels were very nice, unexpectedly so. Unfortunately the body wash was out in the shower, a minor inconvenience.
Getting to terminal 2 was over 20 minutes of walking from the hotel so keep that in mind as you time your departure.

Checking in was terrible...the only person at the desk kindly explained one family everything they had to do in their week in London, and while that was very nice of her (and for them), it was not good for the 8 or so other people that had to wait in line.
The smallest hotel room I had ever seen, on the other hand, is clean, Spartan, and functional. Location could not be better.

A good value hôtel if you don’t like lugging your bags on buses with your children. It was lovely to step out of the hotel and be able to check in 100m later.

Having seen a lot of other reviews about how pokey the rooms were I was a little concerned, however, the location took precedent and I went ahead and booked 2 rooms - I did choose the family rooms as they came with 2 double beds and I was sharing with my Mum (as much as I love her I couldn't share a bed with her). Other family members had the other room.
I'm very glad I went with my own intuition and booked because the room was the perfect size. The shower room was much bigger than many other hotels I've stayed in. The room we were in was very quiet (I never heard another soul the whole time) there was plenty of space for cases, complementary bottles of water and the usual tea/coffee. There were USB ports enabling us to ensure our phones were charged before flying (as per TSA regs) and the staff was super efficient and friendly.
The only downside (if you can really call it that) was that only one lift was working so people had to wait a few minutes longer than if both had been.
I'll certainly book again when I fly from T3 next.

Being inside Heathrow is a great advantage if you or your family have any mobility issues. Get the big room if you can. It has two queen? size beds. There is one chair and one table. So don't expect any closet or flat surfaces to spread out your stuff! use one of the beds. The shower/bathroom also has a tiny flat surface to put things. It's ok, just be aware. The shower will spray water into the adjacent toilet/sink area. It is a very compact space. It works well, it's just a very compact room etc. We are happy to have stayed there for an overnight/transit type of accomodation.

I did not like the size of the room. Too small to call a family room. No work table for computer. No windows. No closet. Hardly room for bags. Temperature control was restricted. Shower had no foot rest and hot water was not hot.

Convenient location in terminal. Easy check in, we booked a family room which was spacious. Convenient for tube/ train to London. Staff were helpful.
Would definitely stay again.

Airport hotel ideal for morning flight. We stayed with our family of 4 after a week of holidays in London before a 6:30am flight. There was pretty clear hotel signage in the underground tunnel but all of the signage disappeared once you are in Terminal 3. The hotel is located at the very end of Terminal 3 Arrival.
