Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Roanoke Salem

This propertywas clean, beds were comfortable, and breakfast had a good selection. The indoor pool was slightly disappointing it is very small and it was icy cold, so cold my kids didnt even want to swim and that was a major factor in choosing this hotel. Would stay again if having a pool was not a factor.

Upon arrival there was only one worker who seemed overwhelmed. The computer system kept crashing and it took her restarting it to get it to work. We got into our room and there were no linings or pillows for the sleeper sofa. We called the front desk and were told we had to pick up the linings from the front desk ourselves. The walls are not insulated well and we could hear the tv from the room next door so loudly it kept my kids awake. It took me calling the front desk twice to finally get somwone to get them to turn the tv down. The room itself is a nice size and seemed relatively clean. The pillows on the bed were very lumpy or flat and made it hard to sleep once the nose from next door was stopped.

Very clean and spacious for our whole family

Arrived late at night after driving with 3 kids. There was only one lady working the whole hotel by herself, who had stepped away from the front desk and left a sign up. The line built up to about 7 guests waiting for someone to return. When she did, you could tell she was overwhelmed and needed help. I went to check in and told her my room was prepaid with hotels.com. She said she didn’t have any rooms left and the system wasn’t working to stop taking reservations. After unloading all our luggage and kids and arriving late, we didn’t have options. She offered us one last room but didn’t know the condition of it. When we got there, it had definitely not been cleaned and appeared to have been used to do drugs. I cleaned up the paraphernalia myself, and did the best with what we had available but it was definitely the worst experience. Not the lady at the front desk’s fault, but terrible that they left her in that position by herself.

The hotel advertises a pool, it was closed. No explanation, and we had already paid. After telling the kids all day that the hotel had a pool- it was very disappointing. We had a room that houses 4. There was 2 towels. The pull out couch was missing it’s bedding. I called the front desk, they told me to come get it. We will never be back.

The hotel itself was very nice! Our room was comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was great! Our one complaint - we booked it specifically because it had an indoor pool that my grandchildren were looking forward to. It was closed, which they didn’t bother to let me know until we checked in.

Great for families with kids and/or pets. Breakfast buffet is wonderful. Staff is friendly and helpful. Easy access to I-81 for travel.

This is the second stay we have had at this hotel. The staff is always friendly and the location can’t be beat (right off the freeway and close to everything you need.) The beds are comforts and the rooms clean. The only thing that might be a problem for some is that you can hear heavy walkers and kids jumping around in the rooms above you. So I guess the ceiling walls are thin. It doesn’t bother me so much and does not deserve a ding to the hotels ratings. We are staying here again in a few weeks.

Overall I enjoyed my stay...I felt the pool could have been larger and the check in experience was less than great customer service. I wasn’t told my total or given a receipt wasn’t told the amount being held on my card for incidentals and wasn’t explained breakfast times. The rest of my experience was good. The hotel is conveniently located with easy highway access. My family and I would stay again.
