Hyatt House Charlotte/Rea Farms

Our A/C didn't work (late-July in NC). When I informed the front desk they said the maintenance person lived 45 min away... we had a small child with us who needed to go down for bed, so waiting 45 min just to have someone get there to look at the problem didn't feel like an option. They couldn't switch our room because they were fully booked. As a last resort, I asked if they had a portable fan we could borrow which fortunately they did. After hearing "daddy I can't fall asleep, I'm hot" 50 times I realized I should have cut my losses at the beginning and just waited the 45 min for maintenance to arrive and hopefully fix it quickly. It made for a long, miserable night and following day. The toilet paper holder was also loose so the roll kept falling off, and the sink drain wasn't working well. When we checked out we were told they would be adding points to our account but of course those didn't show up in our account either. If we hadn't experienced the broken AC issue, the facilities themselves seemed comfortable and nice. However we paid a higher price than similar hotels were offering because we were paying for the Hyatt brand. Based on our experience we realized the brand is not a reason to pay more. I would have expected a higher level of service given the price and brand. If you have an issue with your room, just know that maintenance might not be able to arrive for at least 45 min, which may not be an issue if you plan to check in early.

I wanted to love it, but it took a long time to get checked in due to slow working staff; there was a large gathering in the small lobby, for a funeral, I think? Wall to wall people and nowhere to park, but you felt like an intruder at their party since it wasn’t just in the meeting room. So no quiet drink at the bar or anything. But I’m guessing hotel staff didn’t know that many people would show up. The hallway on the second floor was hot and humid like a sauna, though the room was nice and cool. There was a flashing light in the corner of the room all night. The elevator was super slow, and when it finally came down the cleaning staff and cart took up all the space. We couldn’t get on, so we had to wait another seven or eight minutes for it to come back down. There are only four floors, so why it took so long is anyone’s guess. This was a staycation for us, away from dogs and kids, and we almost went home lol. The bed was comfortable, but the room was smaller than expected.

Nice hotel. Breakfast was good and staff was very friendly. Plenty of shopping and restaurants near by. Across the street from a convenience store to gas up and a grocery store to stalk up on snacks and go. A very nice clean are when traveling with families.

Great stay! Plenty to do within walking distance. Hotel was clean and rooms were perfect for our family of 4. Breakfast was good, just wished it opened earlier than 7am since we had to be at a lacrosse tournament at 7:15, we missed breakfast the first day.

The property and rooms were ok. No where did I see that Hyatt House would DEMAND a $30 hold on my credit card for incidentals that I do not or would not ever use!!! Then the money is immediately taken from your Credit Card and once released it can take up to 7 days to process back to my Credit Card!!! Really???? I was staying here visiting family. This is the last time we stay here. I will not recommend this place to family or friends for future stays.

Worst experience I’ve had in a while. This may be a much better hotel on normal weekends but this stay was awful. The facility itself is nice and it’s in a good location. HOWEVER, there was a giant group of kids (what appears to be from a travel football league) and parents that terrorized the hotel for three days/nights straight. The kids were extremely obnoxious, running around all day, screaming, trashing facilities, and knocking on peoples doors. The parents are outside and inside the hotel smoking weed all day to the point where it’s coming through the vents in our room. We could overhear them discussing their plans to go clubbing while their kids were left by themselves. All “Amenities” were unusable because they took over everything. Breakfast, the hotel bar, the gym, the pool area, etc. All were trashed or had an environment so obnoxious that it was impossible to be around. Clearly the staff did only enough to survive the weekend and did nothing to help the other guests. Our room beside a stained comforter and leftover chips underneath our bed from the previous person had been okay. We will not be returning to this location in the future. Ive never done a review before because I don’t usually care too often but this was horrible.

Nice clean large spacious suites. The family was very impressed with the amenities as well. Will definitely stay here again next time we are back in town.

This hotel was above expectations. Quiet, clean, well appointed, crisp and clean decor...etc. The breakfast was clean and well presented- tasty and warm. Nothing cold (that should be hot) or stale! Will look forward to making this our go to place when we need to see family!

We had a very comfortable stay at the Hyatt House. It was clean and pleasant. It was also in a very convenient area for us. When we come again to visit our family we will choose the Hyatt House.

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Location was close to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was good each morning, and beds were comfortable. The only complaint was that iron and ironing board were cheap and barely useable. Otherwise it was a great stay for a family event in town.
