My friend and I were going to the Spectrum Center and this hotel was VERY conveniently located for that, within easy walking distance. It was clean and presentable, check-in was easy. However, three things detracted from our stay: (1) The beds were surprisingly hard, (2) When checking out the woman behind the counter was a bit snippy. (She wouldn’t print me a receipt as I booked on Hotels.com. Most hotels will say that except that I stayed at a different hotel in a different city the week before which I also booked through Hotels.com and they had no problem printing me a receipt.) Plus I asked for breakfast recommendations and she recommended a local diner, but when I asked for directions she told me to ask the doorman, who at first we couldn’t find and who then had no idea where it was - and it was literally out the front door, take a left, and walk 2 1/2 blocks. Why couldn’t she have just told me that?) I know all this might sound petty but it was the last interaction we had with the hotel staff before leaving so that’s what sticks. And most importantly, (3) We got almost NO sleep because, despite being on the 5th floor, the street noise was horrendous. It sounded like the Indy 500 outside our window. It sounded like a bunch of young punks revving their engines as loud as they could, people talking, laughing, screaming until, I’m not kidding, after 3:00 am. (It was a Saturday night.) I would not stay at this hotel again (at least on a Saturday) just for this reason.

Overall great hotel. It was clean, updated and secure. Staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, we stayed on a lower floor and we could hear traffic. Also, thin walls between rooms, could hear the family beside us at night and early morning.

Location is absolutely fabulous. Pretty nice hotel except that I killed 2 baby roaches and found a dead one on my bed the next morning. Didn’t complain because we were only there for one more night. My youngest daughter went and stayed at her sisters about 25 minutes away because she was scared and my middle daughter was joining me with 2 of her friends. I went to lunch with my oldest and my youngest while waiting for my other daughter to show up with her friends and I asked housekeeping to clean my room during that time (they were in the room right next door and I got back it was not done! So I called down to the front desk and complained and they sent housekeeping up about an hour later and my daughter and friends were there by that time and getting ready for their concert so I just said nvm. Got enough towels for us all. Front desk people were all wonderful! Nice and funny seemed always eager to help. Spectrum Center is just about right behind the hotel. Could’ve had where you turn to go into the parking garage marked better! When you are going by the hotel on your right it’s the next driveway. You pass the valet stand and keep going into the garage. Elevators for the hotel are at the top of the ramp on each level. There are elevators that go somewhere else so watch out for that.

What I loved about the property was the convenience, being located iin Uptown Charlotte. I loved how the hotel was located in very close proximity to the Spectrum Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame and other attractions, and different restaurants. This property had two qualities that I was drawn to: customer service and cleanliness. Staying at the Holiday Inn Charlotte: Center City was a treat in itself. This is going to be my hotel each time I am in town visiting family, friends, and for concerts. I recommend booking this hotel through Expedia.

Thr building and decor were very nice. Only problem was that the toilets were child height. I had a hard time using them.

The hotel has a great location to the heart of downtown. The rates are good... The stay was okay though... One of the elevators starting having issues when we got on.. The door starting closing as if it was broken and we couldn't get off. Then itwould stop on a certain floor numbers the othe family got off on my floor and waited to the other elevator would take them back down. My room door was stuck and you almost had to ram your shoulder into the door to open. But the room was nice inside an clean. The male bartender at the restaurant was a bit rude to some of the customers as I watched his interactions with many ppl. The menu was good though and the bar aid she was sweet and nice. I would stay again and give another chance... cause I am sure the elevator and room issues wouldn't be reaccuring issues.
