Holiday Inn Express & Suites Southport - Oak Island Area, an IHG Hotel

The stay was pretty good. The family and I only stayed a night. However, at breakfast my son got a chocolate milk that had chunks in it because it was expired. We told a worker there and she just said “gross” then walked away.

Staff was very nice and efficient. Grandkids loved the breakfast options.

The room we reserved wasn’t ready upon arrival. Front desk attendant was kind and offered us a double room at no extra cost. The room was extremely outdated and not very clean- hair I. The shower, gross carpet, bathroom had mold and flooded every time we showered. Took our kids to the pool to swim and there was human feces on the floor in the pool area. Breakfast was decent. Would not stay here again.the staff, however, was kind.

The whole process was sooo smooth . The hotel is beautiful and my kids enjoyed the indoor pool! Amazing staff members! We will definitely be back!

Other than the night time road construction, staff member that didn’t know what to do when there was a tornado warning and broken pool heater on our first night there, our stay was decent. I specifically choose this hotel for the indoor pool for my kids after driving from out of state. The road construction started at dusk and continued til dawn. Since the hotel was close to vacant, a suggestion would be to place guests in rooms on the backside of the hotel.

The night front desk lady on 3/25 with dark brown hair was so sweet and really helpful! While we were waiting in line I saw that the people in front of us had asked about dining options and she took the time to grab a printed out sheet and highlight the places that were related to what they were wanting. I felt that that was really awesome and she seemed to treat each guest with individualized attention, yet at the same time waiting for each interaction wasnt long and the interaction wasnt rushed. Idk how she did it it, but she is definitely someone who this hotel should be proud and is very lucky to have at their front desk welcoming people in! We had an issue with the bathroom tub not seeming very clean. She was super sweet and very quick to get it cleaned. The young man that came in to clean it was also very sweet. Because of these two people, i will definitely be recommending this hotel to my friends and family if they ever come to visit this area. The breakfast was good. My kids were happy they had their favorite kind of chocolate milk. The only negative would be the bathrooms.

The pullout bed my children were to sleep in was dirty. Upon removing the couch cushions I found mashed up cigarettes, tobacco shavings and “green” substance. I had to go down to the front desk and ask for a vacuum cleaner. Due to the remoteness of this hotel I had no choice but to stay. I vacuumed the couch myself due to the staff shortage.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. My family frequently stays at Holiday Inn Express hotels when traveling and so I figured this location would have the same level of quality as others. This was not the case. The guest rooms really need an update and a good deep cleaning. The vinyl headboards are peeling, the backs of the desk chairs are falling apart, there are stains on the carpet, toilet didn’t flush correctly, and pink mildew/bacteria growing in the shower grout. We also disgustingly found a roach in the bathroom. When I reported the bug to the front desk, the remedy was to give us a different room on another floor. When we got the this new room, the kitchenette light did not work, the room was very muggy, and the door to the bedroom (had a suite) was completely missing. This hotel is also very stingy with linens and we had to go to the front desk three times to request towels for both the room and the pool. The only plus to the hotel was the indoor heated pool. Please save yourself the hassle and stay elsewhere.

Stayed here to visit family renting beach house nearby. This was a nice hotel. It was hard to figure out how to change the volume on the tv remote in room, but we were happy with stay here. We intend to be back next year, and will stay here again.

We were somewhat surprised at the location of the hotel because it seemed a bit isolated from shopping and restaurants but then we discovered a few restaurants and attractions down the road. Overall, the hotel was very clean. The beds were amazingly comfortable including very soft sheets and I liked how they had soft and firm pillows to choose from. My family was especially impressed with the continental breakfast which was far better than the typical continental breakfast! Every morning there was a choice of either small egg white and veggie or egg and cheese omelettes or scrambled eggs. There was bacon, sausage links, or patties to choose from and biscuits and gravy! They even had a pancake making machine too! Of course, there were muffins, bagels, amazing cinnamon rolls, toast, oatmeal, a few different cereals, yogurt, and three or four juices to choose from too. One small complaint I had was the hotel seemed to have a shortage of towels and washcloths. When we arrived, there were three washcloths, two hand towels, and two bath towels for the four of us. It took a few days to get a few more of everything. Overall, during our five day stay, we were very pleased with the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Southport/Oak Island area, Bolivia, NC.
