The Garden City Hotel

I came out to Long Island to attend a wedding reception in Franklin Square. The Garden City Hotel was close to the venue, so I chose this hotel for an overnight stay. The room was very neat and clean. The bed was so comfortable with a hard and firm mattress which is what I needed for my low back pain. The pillows were so soft and comfortable. I slept well and had to get up early to leave, and wished I could have slept longer. The staff, greeters and bell hops were all very polite and welcoming. This hotel is beautiful. I would be happy to select this hotel again, if I should come out to Long Island. I would highly recommend The Garden City Hotel to my friends and family.

The hotel is beautiful, rooms are beautiful. My criticisms are there were NO vegetarian items on the menu. Thank heavens I am a Pescatarian and do eat fish. If I was a strict vegan I would be out of luck. Second. NOISY. I was there for my mothers' funeral, I could not get to sleep; people next door were outrageously loud and there were children running up and down the halls SCREAMING. When I called to complain, which I hated to do, the lady said security would take care of it. And they did; within 1/2 hr it was very quiet. A beautiful hotel. I would recommend it.

The rooms have been remodelled since we stayed There previously. The bathroom is clean but small and very little space to place items. While the accommodations are good it seemed a bit sparse. No pencil, paper or extra soap. Only 2 towels per set and when we needed more, the maids were reluctant to hand them out. There was only one elevator in service the entire 5 nights we were there. Restaurants were excellent but limited wine menu. When the door opens into the bathroom, the doorknob lock button hits the rubber wall bumper causing it to be pushed into a locked position. When the door then closes , it locks whether or not your in the bathroom. This is dangerous especially if there is a child or if the person in the bathroom needs assistance. The newly painted door to the room stuck and was difficult to open (even after we reported it). Window drapes should overlap.

Staff left front desk unattended frequently. To not have have room service from at least 7 am - 10 am 7 days week at a 5 star hotel is ridiculous. That alone will cause me to find lodging elsewhere which is a shame as I have always stayed here when I come to NY from San Diego because of a death in the family. Brian the Bellman was a stand out and could not have been more helpful to me.

The staff was excellent. Room service breakfast was incredible. Fun family activities on the lawn and the pool was nice, too. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Stayed overnight to attend family function in the area. Staff was helpful and attentive. Room was nice. Kids 5 and 7 loved it.

We enjoyed our stay with a 11 month old infant. It’s very clean and quiet. We slept so soundly didn't wake up until about 11am. The free parking is a bonus.

This was a great location to visit family and stay in a nice hotel for less than Manhattan prices.

The property is conveniently located to the train and shopping. Otherwise, not a good place to stay. The rooms are terribly outdated and does not match the price or the rating. The lobby restaurant and bar is pleasant but I doubt that anyone chooses the hotel just for that. The concierge and valet staff are very welcoming but the front desk staff is awful. Rude and unfriendly. My family and I were treated extremely poorly, we will not return.
