Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit/Sterling Heights

Requested an adjoining room a week before stay. Was told there were no adjoining rooms but that we would be put in rooms next door to each other. At check-in asked again about adjoining rooms and was told that it was not possible. After getting into our rooms which were next door to each other, discovered the second room was adjoining but was not adjoined to the other room we were staying in. Around midnight, another guest tried to kick in my door. They then proceeded to call my room several times and threaten me with physical violence. They banged on the walls and walked up and down the hallway. I called the front desk to report what was going on stating that I didn’t feel safe. Staff stated that they saw the guests on camera and were watching them but offered no solution other than changing my room. After hanging up, the harassment continued. I was alone with 2 small children. I ended up having my husband move us and all of our things into the other room where my husband and son were staying and we were unable to use the second room do to safety concerns. I’m very disappointed in this stay. Did not feel safe at all and did not feel that staff adequately handled the matter. Will not ever return to this hotel.

We took our three adult children and their families on a weekend trip to Detroit. The one condition that my 5 grandchildren gave me in selecting a hotel was to be sure that it had a pool. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED when we arrived to find out that the pool was closed for the weekend... Overall, the hotel rooms show their wear and tear. Very small room fridge, only one USB charger connection, NO working ventilation fan in the bathroom. Just not the type of experience I have been accustomed to when staying in Hampton Inns in the past.

There were a number of things wrong with the room. A chair was missing, the shelf between the beds was ready to fall off the wall, outlets were loose, bathroom door lock/handle broken. I asked the front desk clerk if we could change rooms and she said no, that its a 20 year old hotel and there's something wrong in all the rooms. I have pictures. We were in Detroit for a funeral and other family members were staying there as well or we would have switched hotels. I will never go back to this hotel.

It was clean and had a room for my family of 6. Just wish the pool would’ve been open and no breakfast on a Sunday morning was unfortunate. I understand call-offs happen but that was part of what we were looking for when booking this hotel.

We reserved a room for 2 adults and one child. when we returned to the hotel from dinner we asked the person at the front desk for another towel so that we could give our child a bath and have a clean towel to dry them off. The person at the desk refused to give us an extra full size towel because we had just checked in that day and hadn't turned in any of our other towels. we had 2 full size towels in our room to start. he ended up giving us a hand towel to use for our child.

fantastic experience. Well maintained and the kids enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was good too. Would definitely come back.
