Holiday Inn Express St. Ignace-Lake Front, an IHG Hotel

Overall a great choice if staying in St Ignace especially if traveling with kids!

This experience was poor die to upkeep of rooms and cleanliness, we came across old ripped sheets, clean but ripped, the kind of tear that you notice and need to replace, there were spiders in unit so the pest control is probably set up with the correct recurrence. There were nail trims, band aid on the floor so obviously the housekeeping is not diligent enough. Aside from that the rooms are old and tired, not what I would look forward to come back to. It is interesting because my family insisted on getting in a quaint local motel and I pushed onto the national brand hotel because of their higher standards nationwide but it backfired, seems like national chains perform poorly in smaller markets as they are not as busy, but when the experience is not consistent across markets systemwide then the brand hurts.

Still have some construction in the courtyard. Carpet in halls could use cleaning or replacing. Room was large and view of the lake was nice. Family and dog owners had dogs and children running and was a little loud at times if you are looking for privacy and quiet. Price seemed a little high for location.

The hotel was nice. Was in a good location, clean and had friendly staff. Breakfast bar had good options, although the seating area was small for the number of guests enjoying breakfast. Only other complaint was apparently our room was near some very loud guests who could not shut a door quietly. Constant door slamming starting in the early morning and lasting throughout the day into the night. Not sure if it was kids or what, but very annoying. Otherwise the hotel itself was great.

Cleanliness was disappointing, at best. The service, and response from the hotel was just as disappointing. We had to move the chair in the bedroom to set up a child pack-n-play. There were about 7 dead, large mosquito-looking bugs on the floor where the chair was. The refrigerator had unopened milk containers from the previous stay that were not removed from the room prior to our visit. I informed the receptionist shortly off our check-in of these issues, and her response was, “I’ll take some notes. We have been receiving a lot of complaints today.” The next morning, we brought our one-year-old twins to breakfast at the complimentary breakfast (great variety); however, we were quite disappointed to see the hotel only had one high chair for the entire building. During checkout, I waited for the receptionist to ask me how my stay was but she never did. So I shared my poor experiences with her and her response was, “I’ll leave a note for the manager because he will be in today.” But I haven’t heard from the hotel and it’s been a week. Disappointing stay, even more disappointed in the response, or lack thereof, from the hotel.

Brought our 4 and 5 yr old boys here for a family vaca and trip to Mackinac Island. We had a nice big room with a jetted tub in it, view of the beach and island and easy access to the restaurant/bar on the property. Would return.
