This was a great little place to stay on my recent trip to New Orleans for a conference. I was travelling alone, and the room was all I needed- small, but simple and clean and accessible- easy to walk to everything. However, there were some things I wasn’t too pleased with. To start, my first impression was not a good one. At check in, after waiting for at least 15 minutes behind only one family, I finally asked the one gentleman behind the counter (who was seemingly doing nothing) if he could please check me in, to which he rudely replied no because he was “dealing with something”. So I waited patiently for another 5 minutes and received no apology for the wait. In addition, I had hung the “later” sign on my door, and someone ignored it and made the room up anyway- not a big deal to me, but someone else might be quite upset about this. Also, I brought my own round brush hair dryer and after only 4-5 minutes of drying my hair, it set off the fire alarm at 6:30 in the morning. It only lasted a few minutes but I thought it was odd that this happened, and nobody seemed to care. Finally, if you’re sensitive to smells, whatever they pump into the air in the lobby was not pleasant. Overall, it was a nice little hotel that I would consider staying at again, but these few little issues definitely impacted my overall impression.

The stay was not bad but not good either, the staff was accommodating and really friendly. Only issue my wife had was there were no microwaves available to warm up food. The front staff was willing to do do’s if needed until one decided not to when she actually needed it. Bartenders and bar area were great, drinks really good, ambiance was nice. Hotel itself is old, I wouldn’t go with children or on a couples trip or stay for more than a couple of days. It’s not accommodating enough for that, no restaurant but plenty around the corner in canal street. Rooms are extremely cramped, so upgrade, we had to switch rooms from what was on the site after we checked in. Front desk area has a nice vibe I liked, overall wasn’t a bad stay but can’t see a reason I’d go back except the bar and front desk crew, at the end we were just trying somewhere new as we moved there after our flight was canceled by Southwest Airlines.
