Sonesta Select Bettendorf

This motel was in terrible condition. Weeds taller than most children. Grass hasn't been mowed THIS YEAR! The motel was filthy. No wash clothes in the rooms. Outside door locks not working and people using rocks to block it open. The lobby looked like the southern border with all the undocumented young men waiting for a room. Was too late to change motels or we would have. Garbage piled up outside. "Breakfast" was non-existent. Hotels.com FAILED to show the reviews. I wonder why that was. NEVER AGAIN. Needs to be torn down.

Upon checking and I asked about breakfast. I was informed that there would be no hot breakfast like advertised. This was one of the reasons we chose to stay here. Avoid the coffee, tastes like water. Shortly after our family put on our swimsuits to go to the pool. All doors are locked to the pool area and there was a huge barricade in front of the hot tub with no water in it. Was told that there was some maintenance work being done and no one could tell us when it would be back up and running. Last disappointment was there was an ant problem in the bathroom. I really wanted to cancel our reservation and go somewhere else/request a different room, but everything was fully booked in the area due to a big sporting event in the area that weekend. I will not be going back to a Sonesta anytime soon. Set your expectations really low if you’re gonna stay here.

Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had at this price point. Got in late with tired children and told: -NO breakfast -NO working pool -NO cable/working TVs THEN, after agreeing to stay without the amenities advertised due to lack of any real option, we found: -VERY broken pull out couch (had to put the mattress on the floor) -NO bedding available for pull out couch -NO comforter for one of the two queen beds -Room two doors down from us with obviously punched in broken door -Police presence, taking statements from several patrons downstairs as we were exiting I honestly don’t know that you can make this stuff up. Wish I could share photos. We asked to please speak with the manager and were told she was “busy”, no time to speak to guests with concerns. Told she would call later in the day; have not heard anything.

First room I was sent to hadn’t been cleaned. They didn’t have another double queen so my kids and I had to stay in two separate rooms. The second room they sent us to had a broken heater and air conditioner. Was freezing in the room. After showering, I realized there was not one towel in the room, not even a hand towel. No one answers phone at front desk. Pool, hot tub, ice machines, all broken. No breakfast due to broken oven. Parking lot hadn’t been plowed from a storm over a week ago. Complete disaster.

I stayed last year everything went good so i booked again this year mind u i called and checked on everything first so we get to hotel first room no heat,promise of breakfast we got it first day they tell us no food truck so we are out on food,then jacuzzi dont work heated pool dont work we asked for our money back wont stay here ever again n whenbwe first walked in cols are there for an employes family member with warrants thatvwas staying there

2 years ago my grandaughter and I started hotel nights to have fun and come swim and hot tub it was an average hotel 1st stay 2nd got a little worse 3rd worse and recently we booked 3 nights for Christmas and it was terrible. Got a room with pull out bed that was full of stains and looked 100 years old. The entire room was filthy carpet stained and nasty. The hallways were so dirty the elevator was dirty. I had to get on my knees to scrub bathroom floor because it was so dirty. There were dirty washcloths hanging up on bars. We could not find anyone to get any extra towels and we stayed 3 days. Hot tub broke. Breakfast ran out one day and no breakfast next day they said truck didn’t show. My 11 year old grandaughter even said it was a disgusting hotel and she never wanted to come back and it literally was her favorite. We will never return it was a very uncomfortable stay because of the filth and staff had their children running around the halls too and could never find them at desk for anything. I even ran into another family in hall who left early and got a refund for the remaining nights because it was so dirty. Anyone could enter building because security doors did not work. So sad this place has taken a negative slide downward because we stayed there quite often and we never will again total waste of money.

We were there for a family outing, staying 3 days. The room was clean and comfy. We enjoyed the breakfast offered. Check out went well.

The older my husband and I get, the more we value a good bed. We used to be able to sleep well anywhere, but that just is not true anymore now that we are both in our mid-50s and using C-PAP devices. I read multiple reviews of multiple hotels in the Bettendorf and Davenport area in my quest for a place for us to stay for a long weekend while in the area to visit family and friends while also trying to stay within our budget before finally taking a chance on the Sonesta Select. We are so glad we did. The beds were very comfortable--not too soft, not too firm, but supportive with clean, crisp sheets. My husband's internal temperature runs hot, so be aware that to turn on the air conditioner, you use the thermostat on the wall rather than controlling it from the unit below the window like you do in some other hotels. Being a tall person, I appreciated that the shower head was set higher on the wall above provided shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers so I did not have to crouch into a weird, unnatural position to use it effectively. I also appreciated the texture on the shower/tub floor since I forgot to bring along my shower mat to prevent slipping. There was a built-in grab bar as well, so safety measures are in place for any of us who are starting to feel like our balance is not quite what it used to be. We were offered breakfast vouchers and smelled good aromas in the mornings, but had other plans, so we did not partake what the staff had to offer for breakfast.

The staff was engaging and delightful. There were a lot of kids and pets staying while we were there. Hallways were noisy. Our room was nice and we liked all the courtroom space. Perfect location for our family activities. Breakfast was busy. They ran out of fresh fruit, forks, cup lids but the staff was apologetic and tried to accommodate requests.

Only 1 of the 4 ice machines worked, no soap in room, hot tub was roped off. Breakfast wasn’t great, and they were out of forks the whole time we were there. Tried calling the front desk several times with no answer. I went down and there was no one at the desk. I rarely saw anyone at the desk our whole stay. Pool was supposed to open at 9am, I waited with my kids for 15 minutes and went to the desk to let the girl know the door wouldn’t open with our card. She said she’d let maintenance know to open the door. I went back and we waited at the pool door another 15 minutes before going back to the front desk a second time. The girl says ‘Oh are you still waiting to get into the pool? I forgot to call him (maintenance).’ We definitely won’t be back and won’t be recommending this place.
