It was our first trip since Covid...back to Chicago. We were looking for a affordable and clean hotel for my family of 5 for 4 days. We got the large suite on level 5. My family loved hotel, breakfast, staff, pool, and Dora the cleaning lady. Nice lady made sure we had clean room and fresh towels. I would highly recommend to stay to visit Chicago away from city. But we traveled daily to downtown and rested quietly at the Hyatt. We will be returning again to this hotel next year.

I chose this hotel because I stayed here previously on a solo trip. When we were taking a family vacation, this hotel came to mind. It did not disappoint, just like last time.

Overall, our stay was okay. The room was a nice size for our family of 4, the breakfast options were good, and the staff was very kind. The couch cushions in our room had stains, as did the foldaway mattress. The pool is much smaller than the photos make it appear. The hotel had a "circulation issue" and ran out of hot water, which was especially challenging after an 80-degree day and a basketball tournament. Staff offered a partial refund in the form of loyalty credits "to stay at any Hyatt in the world." I'd rather have been refunded for our stay!

The hotel itself was mediocre based on past experiences at Hyatt hotels. The staff were kind/friendly; however, the overall cleanliness could have been better. The room was a bit dingy/old (couch had stains) and the pool at Hyatt Place was closed during our stay. The main purpose of our stay was to do a “stay-cation” with our children and thankfully the sister hotel within the same vicinity (Hyatt House) had a pool available for us per the hotel staff. While this was a suitable alternative, that pool was extremely unclean; you could not even see the bottom of the pool (max depth a little over 5ft). There was no smell of chlorine, but instead an eggy-type smell and there were ants all around the pool area (at least where we sat). I certainly did not swim and while I did not want my kids to swim, I allowed them to for a little bit, only because they were looking forward to swimming. I typically do not leave hotel reviews, because so long as the hotel is kid-friendly (when we travel as a family), has a clean interior, and has welcoming staff, I am good. The staff again were pleasant and I do not want to take away from that, but the hotel could use a good cleaning. Even though the pool was not in our particular hotel, a pool was still accessible to us and therefore I could not leave out mentioning that it was not clean. For the location, price, etc., I was just expecting a little more from Hyatt.
