Thompson Chicago

Upon arrival While checking in and talking with the concierge, everything went smooth but as soon as I receive my room, keys went up to the room that I was presented with. It was actually the wrong room. I ordered a junior suite, but it was a king corner. Expecting going over and looking at the room, it was troublesome spots on the couch. Corners of the bed had stains the paint in the bathroom. It was all over the place. So I went back downstairs spoke with the concierge and they had nothing to offer. Said they can reimburse me, but I already paid for parking. We traveled a little ways to get here. It was our anniversary. We were just trying to have a good time but the hotel did not accommodate at all. We did end up staying, other than the hotel, everything was absolutely fine.

I grew up in downtown Chicago, but stay in a hotel when I return with my family. I was locked out of our usual spot with my last-minute planning so I snagged a spot here. Our room was PHENOMENAL. We had a lake view, pictures attached, and had a corner room. The view was spectacular and the room beautifully appointed and spacious. We had two adults and two kids, seven and four, with two double beds and had plenty of space for five nights. The service was terrific - every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful and on several occasions anticipated our needs before we did! They are hiring great people and training them well. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. Even the lobby is carefully decorated and welcoming. I'm still a little shocked at what an absolute gem of a hotel this is and I never knew. I will never stay anywhere else in Chicago.

Very clean hotel. Staff was very nice. Our baby was sick and they helped wash items complimentary. Will stay again.

I always enjoy staying at The Thompson Chicago, all the staff are amazing! Alex at the front desk is always friendly and informative.The hotel is my go to for a staycation in the city or the holidays when I have family in town. I stayed in Room 701, it needs some TLC! The top of the nozzle on the spray in the shower is missing, the sink is cracked and peeling and the mirror frame is chipped up. The sectional has a few very noticeable stains on it and there’s noticeable scoff marks on the walls.

I love the Thompson hotel! We had a great stay here in this winter. I am sure it’s even better to stay here in the summer. This is a perfect downtown location if you are looking to relax, eat good food and also be a tourist. It’s a block away from Michigan Avenue so it’s not loud. It’s close by 360 if you want to be a tourist. We ended up taking the bus up and down Michigan Avenue since it was winter. You just need ApplePay if you don’t want to buy a pass. It is also a block away from Oak Street beach. The underpass to the beach is close! It is also close by great restaurants and bars! We loved the restaurant in the hotel— Nico Osteria. We also loved the Lux Bar across the street and Gibson steak house (best steak in the city). The hotel room was clean and spacious! The bed was so comfy. The best part of this room is the shower! This is by far the best hotel shower I have been in lately. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends visiting Chicago!

I was highly upset with the stay due to the house keeping going through my family belongings and taking from our room! Very disappointed.
