Great location and comfortable for a family

Home2Suites by Hilton has been our home-away from home every time our family visits the Amelia Island. The staff are friendly and accommodating and we are mostly pleased with the cleanliness and its proximity to the beach, stores and the historic downtown.

Rooms are big and comfortable the staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast variety. Stayed for a week with my family and loved it. Beach is walking distance, skate park, shopping. The best is next door Carolyns breakfast restaurant very convenient and delicious

Upon arrival, entered the room and discovered the toilet was plugged. It was about 8pm when we arrived so we immediately informed the front desk in person about the toilet. No maintenance on at that time. Told me they could be a call in for the morning. Which would mean I couldn’t use the bathroom all night. Asked if they had a plunger and I would try to plunge it. It was very confusing for them. At first they couldn’t find it, offered to put us up in a different room for no additional fee. Then they found the plunger after about 20 minutes. Husband and I tried to clear toilet but couldn’t. They switched us to a different room that was half the size of the room I initially paid for. Don’t know how the second room was more $. Ended up having to put my suitcase in the car because there wasn’t much room in this room for 3 adults and 1 child. My child had to sleep on this small sliver of a couch. First room had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch and plenty of space. Room they put us in had 2 queen beds and a sliver of a couch. Not much room between tv stand/ dressers for waking etc.

When we first entered our room it smelled like dog. We used the pull out couch during our stay and upon pulling it out we noticed that the fabric mattress protector was thoroughly covered in black animal hair. We took it up to the front desk, they apologized and gave us a new one. And I know it's not the fault of the hotel but their alarm system was faulty the first night we were there and 3 times our whole family (including 3 young kids) were awoken to the deafening sound of the alarm. Unfortunately it scared our young kids and each time it happened they woke up screaming and crying. Other than that it was a good stay.
