Howard Johnson by Wyndham Marina at Monterey Bay

Was a little hesitant when we first arrived. We believe it is family owned. Very nice family. The rooms weren’t anything special but was very clean. There was no carpet which was nice because you knew the floors were clean. It is close to the VA medical facilities. Would stay there again Close to Monterey too

Stayed one night on a road trip with kids. The rooms were clean, renovated and spacious. The inn had a convenient store and gas station on the premises, which was nice. The young man at the front desk was uber friendly and willing to suggest nearby activities for my little ones. They gave us a bag of goodies for breakfast which included a banana, pastry, yogurt and orange with a beverage of your choice. Definitely would recommend this spot!

Its part of a convenient store/gas station so plenty of lighting. Breakfast is a brown bag of kids snacks, but some places dont offer anything so.

If you're looking for a budget friendly place to stay, as we all jnownhow expensive hotel, even motel stays are in Monterey, dont give this place a second thought. Would rate this as a 5 star motel. Very clean, a little outdated in the bathroom, but overall very clean. Bed and pillows were comfy. Sheets were nice and clean, smelled of bleach cleanliness. Towels were nice, clean, and soft. It was very quiet and clean. There is a gas station in the center of the complex and a convenience store next to the lobby. They provide to go sack bags for breakfast which includes a granola bar, breakfast sandwich/breakfastBurrito/breakfast hot pocket/croissant sandwich, tangerine, banana, danish, yogurt, and a blue bell cheese. It was very unique and cute. Service was very good. They also have oatmeal packets, organic milk, yohoo, and Capri sun's for the kids. Would definitely stay again.

I booked two rooms for a trip with my family and my dad for my daughters birthday. I have never stayed in the area before and was unsure but it was in my price range. Definitely glad i picked this place. Staff was super friendly and absolutely amazing!!! The rooms were spacious and clean!!! I never once felt unsafe which was huge to me being in a new area. They even had a great little packed breakfast for us in the morning that was full of healthy great food!! My dad and my 4 kids (age 15 - 22) were very happy with it all as well. I will definitely be staying here the next time i come to Monterey!!!!

Great budget spot off the 101! Snax available evey morning, and varied! Would definitely come on back for some family R and R. Grovery Outlet and walmart on the way into and out of town.

From the outside it looks a bit off but the inside is like you walked into a different place. The best place to relax and stay examples; the bed comforting that kids will sleep in one place, the dresser is under the tv so there is more room to move arouns

Check in was super quick and the lady at the desk was nice to work with. The room smelled clean upon first opening the door and the strong smell of bleach, but shortly after walking around the room my bare feet were completely black. The floors need to be cleaned properly. Maybe a couple of times in a row with clean water each round. It was awful. My husband and I had to thoroughly wash our feet and lay towels on the floor to make a trail to the bed so we didn’t get our gross feet in the sheets. The bed was comfortable. The temperature was comfortable. The shower head needs to be replaced. Poor water pressure. Final thoughts….. not worth it. Side note: Marina California must be having some crime issues currently. During our quick trip to Walmart, we saw a van hijacked and drove into a field and obliterated by the thieves before the cops showed up. THEN on the way home, there were a bunch of punk kids destroying a fenced off private property construction site….. We did not feel safe in Marina. Final thoughts… not worth the stay.

This hotel was close to family, not fancy, but a great basic hotel room. The staff were really great... so friendly.

This hotel was ok if your looking for a comfortable bed to sleep. There no amenities. When I was looking for a place to stay I could of sworn there was a nice patio to sit, but there was not. We stayed for 4 nights and not once did anyone come into empty the garbage, refresh coffee or make the bed. It was a good thing we were there to visit family and were only there to sleep, because there is nothing else to do.
