Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Berkeley, an IHG Hotel

The room was great. The kids enjoyed the stay.

Area has some nice food spots and some homeless or possible drug users. We did not feel in danger but kept the little ones close. Hotel felt safe and clean, breakfast was good.

During a very difficult time to come to help a family member who needed surgery, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our every request, including a last minute handicapped room at a reasonable rate. Everyone was kind and patient. They have obviously made an effort to continually improve an older property. Their morning breakfast has options for everyone, including protein, fresh whole fruit and low sugar, alternative milks, etc. They also have options for sweeter tastes such as fresh pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Staff is always cleaning and restocking the food. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Onsite parking is free; however, this is Berkeley - with lots of one way streets and weird parking that takes up the entire right lane with tons of bike lanes that I only saw used a few times.It is sumply a bit frustrating to navigate and find parking in other places.

Fantastic hotel for the price. Stayed here with my family and also had decent breakfast. One the beds in our room (216) was more like a Rv mattress (lots of springs at the surface) but other than that the stay was nice.

Our stay is nice, delicious breakfast which my family loves, courteous and friendly staff but the room is very outdated, need to change interior , carpet is old and need to change. The place needs a real upgrade.
