Crowne Plaza Phoenix - Phx Airport, an IHG Hotel

Nice hotel for overnight with family that was flying out the next morning.

This was super convenient for me. I fly to Arizona a couple times a year. My mom lives in Payson. I have family and Misa flying out early in the morning makes a long drive from Payson and this hotel was super convenient. The outside is unsafe to walk around in though, but fortunately I didn’t have to go anywhere, the shuttle was awesome. The front desk staff was pretty cool too.

We booked two rooms for myself and my sister’s family. They did not have the rooms we booker (2 queens) to fit each of our families of four. No apologies just gave us a king with a pullout. No sheets or pillows for the pullout. We had to go again to the desk and ask. Very rude staff.

Stay was fine but they made extra charges to my card. They say it’s 50$ deposit and a 10$ a night parking fee. That’s fine. But they charged me 89$. And the second night out of no where charged me another 76$. When brought to the hotels attention the front desk man just says. “ I don’t know what thoes damn kids on overnights are doing.” He also said I’d get it back in 5 minutes to a hour and it’s been a full day. I had to borrow Money to get My car out of long term parking. And it took everything I had in my bank I was very upset and still am as I haven’t received a dime back.

The over all stay was pleasant the couldnt handle the high influx of customers that came through the elevators were packed and zero help or organization by the staff. Would have felt better if staff would have directed the 90 + kids trying to overtake the elevators the security was to busy avoiding them which was a concern because what happens when they encounter a real threat? Its was clean overall considering the amount of traffic. The water they had as a courtesy would have been really good but it was warm so they could have payed attention to atleast that considering it was 116 degrees.

i made a registration on Expedia for a three night stay for a family of Cuban refugees who had just arrived in the United States and been dumped at the Phoenix airport by US Immigration with only the clothes on their backs and no money. when they arrived at the hotel to check in they were denied access to their room because Expedia had not collected a $150 security deposit from me. i offered to pay the hotel the $150 with a credit card but they would not take a credit card from me by phone without a manager's approval and there was no manager on duty. it was only thanks to the assistance of a stranger in the lobby at the time that i was able to send him the money by Zelle with which he paid the deposit in cash. but the Expedia/Crowne Plaza infrastructure left my refugee friends high and dry without a shred of compassion or professionalism.
