Novotel Cardiff Centre

We wanted a relaxinf family trip away and fortunately picked up Novotel Cardiff. The first room allocated to us was in the older part of the hotel, next to main road and we couldnt sleep well overnight. However, the very next day, upon requesting, it was changed to a lovely and spacious room in the adjoining new building. Staff at the hotel are its main asset, friendly, smiling, helpful, always actively listening. We found the bar and kitchen staff the best, Aaliya Khan was the perfect hostess in the mornings and the chef always appeared smiling, engaging and remembering food choices. Great food, always fresh and good healthy choices. The gym, sauna , steam room and swimming pool were all great to use qnd allow a larger window through the day to use. The hotel is literally a 15 min walk to the city centre and around 20 min walk to Cardiff Bay.

Room was good, but downstairs facilities poor. Very limited seating other than hard seats/stools in burger bar type restaurant. Loud music blasting out the whole time too. Friendly and helpful staff, but they have an uphill battle with limited facilities I think. This would be fine for a family break where you want fast food, a pool etc., but not really a ‘couples’ venue in my opinion.

Central location was excellent, staff were really friendly and hotel was lovely and quiet at night with no noise from hen/stag parties. Seemed like lots of families there, which was nice. Swimming pool was lovely and very clean compared to other pools at similar hotels we've visited before. On the negative side, aircon in the room was broken, so had a oil filled radiator instead. Toilet was dirty, shower had mould on it. Overall good, but some annoying niggles

We had a great stay at this property (family of 2 adults, 2 kids). Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool and its facilities were great, kids loved them! The gaming area in the lobby was also a big hit! Breakfast buffet was lovely - excellent selection of traditional English breakfast items, continental breakfast items, pancakes etc. We got a deal: adults eat for £12, kids eat free- superb value! Room was clean. Ideally two double beds would be preferred for a family room (rather than a double plus pull out sofa bed). But we put up with it for one night! Would recommend for a very good value stay, convenient location and great facilities for the family.

Ok hotel, a bit dated, could do with some tlc. The air con was broken in the too which was not ideal, one of the lights in the bathroom continually flickered on and off and everything just looked a bit tired. The kids were excited to use the pool but it was very crowded due to 1/2 of the pool being cordoned off as it was rented out for swimming lessons. The price was reasonable and would probably use again if the price was right.

Wonderful time with wife and kids. Wonderfully recieved. Breakfast staff were absolutely amazing and always on hand! Would definitely recommend and would come again!

Have stayed in the Novotel for many years however felt that the service had gone down since we last stayed. We had a family room booked, when we arrived we only had two towels, and one pillow on the sofa bed which was for two. There were hairs in the bath plug hole and around the bath. The leisure facilities were ok, however the layout and the fact that there were baby swimming lessons meant you couldn’t get to the lockers as they are directly above the seats which were occupied with mums and babies. There was lots of mould around the door area in the steam room and the jacuzzi. However breakfast was really good and allergens clearly labelled, they even had a gluten free toaster.

Absolutely wonderful weekend here with our baby and toddler. Couldn't praise the staff more, they were so welcoming and helpful. Facilities were great, restaurant was lovely, can't wait to come back!

Our room was very clean. The indoor swimming pool was the biggest highlight for our children. The hotel is located within walking distance from the city centre and has plenty of parking spaces.
