Hotel Mai Amsterdam

The hotel a well located from the train station and close to the heart of Amsterdam. It is a very nice property and our family room was perfect- very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We would stay here again if in Amsterdam.

The rooms were small and dark with no closet space to hang clothes or store luggage. The windows in the room are only a few feet away from the windows on the next building, so one had to close the window blinds for privacy day and night. I reserved 4 rooms for 3 nights for our family trip and paid in full when I made the reservation on Hotel.com. One of the reasons I selected Hotel MAI is because it had a free cancellation policy up to 5:59 pm on the check-in date. The date before our scheduled check-in date, I had to cancel the first night for 3 rooms due to weather related flight cancellation from US. The Hotel.com rep told me that I'll get 3 nights refund 3 days after we checked out. About 10 days later, I got an email message from Hotel.com saying I'll not get any refunds because Hotel MAI denied refunding. Despite a few more follow-up communications with Hotel.com, I still haven't been able to get any resolution. Is Hotel MAI trying to cheat foreign travelers or is Hotel.com refusing to take responsibility to enforce the terms and conditions for reservations made on its site, or both?
