Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam

I normally dont like to write negative reviews but we truly felt like we were tricked out of on this one. Expedia rates this hotel as 5-star. For what reason, we did not see. Grand Hotel Amrath is far from being a 5-star hotel. I know because I have stayed in so many. The hotel is old, both inside & out. We were told it used to be an old shipping or storage place, and yes it looked exactly like that. The hotel tries to mask it all with a red carpet but the hotel is OLD, DIRTY, and SPOOKY. It looks like an old haunted mansion. Old rooms with molds and dust and old, dirty, broken tiles. You have to take 2 different elevators to get to your room and goodluck finding your room with their ODD maze-like layout. Staff service was so-so. We asked for toothpaste and never got it. We asked for bell desk and they took forever, making our uber driver wait 15mins. I will never go back to this hotel nor recommend to family/friends.

Totally not 5* hotel. We booked a junior suite - to make ourselfes comfortable. First the key cards didnt work for the first 2 days. The room was not clean, no wheret to put your jacket and if you have used the beed the sheets where all over and not where it was supposed to. Also the room was very cold. Breakfast was not what you expect of 5 stars - fake eggs in the morning. Generally not happy.
