Two things:
1. the AC apparatus is standing on the floor, you won't see it on the pictures, and it is the loudest I've ever heard. I had to turn it off during the night.
2. I booked because of the balcony. The balcony is indeed good. But not the chairs. The chair fell to PIECES under me. First, I sat there with my 6 month old baby in my arms. The chair held, at the time, thank goodness. Then I came back to it, 20 minutes later, with my laptop. And the chair immediately fell apart under me. Had this happened with the baby in my hands, baby could have hit his head on the balcony railing, AS did I. No injuries, but let me tell you, that balcony is not worth the risk.
Oh and, the front desk guy, the only thing he had to say was, we gotta replace the chair. No apology, not even to ask if I'm okay or anything. I told him about the lucky break it didn't happen with the baby in my arms, no reaction, just staring.
I was carrying things to my car after that, and next thing I know, there is a chair, same wooden, heavily painted chair, folded against the wall, waiting to be carried in and set to fall under the next person.
Do I need to say more? I hope you know what's worth it and what isn't. Or, BYOC: bring your own chair.

This was my first stay at the Byward Blue Inn and I was pleasantly surprised. The property is convenient to the Byward Market, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Centre, and delicious dining options. My room was comfortable, well equipped, and clean. I would be happy to recommend this property to my friends and family.

The hotel is affordable and the service is good. Staff is nice. Breakfast has a small but sufficient selection, you can eat and enjoy.
Points to take when booking:
- Rooms fit 2 not 3 as advertised (1 bed no sofa)
- no slippers are available
The hotel should update the room description on Expedia to reflect actual capacity and available amenities.
Another important point for families with strollers: the hotel entrance has stairs and no ramp, so you would need to carry the stroller to go in. Maybe there is another entrance, but I didn’t see it nor inquire about it.

Very supportive and friendly staff, its a great place to stay if you are using bus mainly, parliament hill, national gallery are at walking distance.
Breakfast is complimentary and is not the best but great for the value.
I stayed with two kids, and it was just fine.

Had 3N stay with family in Byward Blue Inn which is nearer to lots of major attractions and eateries. Based on the suggestion by my friend who stayed earlier, booked this budget friendly room for our visit able to cover several places and thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Ottawa.
