Century Plaza Hotel

Ok so im gonna start with the positives, the staff do a brilliant job in this place their helpful and the room was clean. Now on to the negatives we booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children now usually you would expect that to mean 2 double beds or a double and sofa bed something like that oh no they thought we were all gonna sleep in 1 kingsize bed!!! secondly we were told we had a corner suite which i though was nice thankfully loads of room to put in our blow up bed we requested for our kids to sleep but the noise im pretty sure the windows were single glazed and we were right beside a hospital so sirens going all night, for 2 nights we had barely any sleep as it was so darn noisy, also this is in Davys area which apparently means the gay area which i have no problems with each to their own but just to make people aware of it, also this area has a really high drugs rate with people lying everywhere to be honest we couldn't wait to get out of vancouver

It was a pretty good room. I appreciated that they had a fairly well stocked kitchen. I was traveling with my two small children and would’ve loved a more sturdy lock on the balcony door and an infant crib available. The staff were very friendly.

4 nighs with family and was very nice. I stay on the 20th floor and the view is awsome. I will come back for sure. Very nice!

Comfortable family stay

We had a generally positive experience here. The property is convenient and in walking distance to many downtown amenities. The room was really spacious. One minor gripe was that the pool was a little cool for the kids, and no hot tub made that harder to tolerate.

The rooms are extremely outdated and the carpet felt so unhygienic. The furniture is old and there was really old heater running across the room at the bottom which felt like a hazard as I was traveling with a kid and a dog. It’s no where as good as it advertised. The only saving grace is the staff at the front desk who were friendly and helpful.

The property was generally good. Location was close to the shops and restaurants. It was centrally located and the area was safe. Customer service was average. Customers would prefer being given clear instructions about how parking worked. Upon checkin (being given the room keys), the associate knowing we had a vehicle did not give specific instructions how to access the upper level parking. We were parked the whole day on the ground floor wondering how parking was until an associate who was on a cigarette break asked me if my car was ‘ok’. I relayed my concern and only at which time I was directed to use my key card to access the upper parking level. Big deal or not, my preference is to be given clear instructions so we can clear our minds and go about enjoying the beautiful city. The room was however large and had a kitchen. We loved that there were pots, water heater, toaster, microwave, silverware and plates and a fridge. This is great for families!

The room we received had a very powerful smell of paint. We had to open the windows and keep them open until we went to sleep. In the morning there were jackhammer noises coming from above. Very annoying since the kids were still sleeping. We had to leave one day earlier because of the weather advisory that announced heavy snow. This became quite a hassle: Expedia and the hotel management passed the responsibility to refund me from one to another and in the end I haven’t been refunded for the last night. Very poor customer services on both sides. I was very disappointed because I used to stay at this hotel every time we came to Vancouver. Not anymore!

Loved our stay. Great location for walking anywhere central and very good service. Our room was huge, well appointed and with a spectacular view. Area might be a bit lively if you're traveling with children or are a light sleeper, but otherwise, highly recommended.

Our room automatically locked because there was some issue with the door latch. Spent over 30 minutes outside the room late night because the staff was not able to resolve the door latch issue. After temporarily fix, they committed it will be fixed permanently in the morning but no one showed up to fix the issue. Went to front desk three times in person to complain and ask someone to fix the issue because we did not feel safe living there. (Remember we were staying with family and kids). Very disappointed!
