The Star Grand Hotel and Residences Sydney

It's the second time we've stayed here and the main pool was closed. They should do maintenance when it' winter - not summer. We have to go to the Darline Pool instead but that pool has ground that burns your feet on a hot day. We had to make sure the baby didn't crawl into a sunny park of the pool area or she would have been crying form how hot the floor was. Grateful if the Star could put a notice on their webpage if the pool is unavailable. It's the main reason we stay at the Star Grand so we would have picked different dates if we knew it was closed.

Welcome drinks served on arrival from Barry while we checked in. Celebrating two birthdays in my family we were upgraded which was a lovely surprise from Monica on reception. Our room was clean and well stocked thanks to Ange & Sidju. Seth from the pool bar was a gracious host. Well done team - fantastic customer service! We created some wonderful family memories and look forward to our next visit with you!

I recommend a package with breakfast buffet and dinner credit. Swimming pool has warm water and each locker has a sauna and steam room, there is also gym. Beds are comfortable and the Darling Harbour views from our room were amazing after we got an upgrade. Original rooms were looking run down and desperately needed renovations. Cleanliness is a problem starting with rubbish in corridors and terrible stains on mirrored lift doors. My room was thoroughly cleaned but the sofa had such stains and dirt that kids refused to sit on it. Breakfast buffet, pool and upgrade were the highlights; better cleaning of common areas would go a long way at the Star. We also stayed at the Darling for the second part of our trip and they had excellent rooms and service although breakfast options at Sokyo were limited and pool didn’t have locker rooms or showers.

Unhelpful at check in and delayed to bring baby cot requested. Housekeeping never brought the requested towels.

We had a few issues, the room definitely was not clean there was fake eyelashes left around the bathroom from who ever stayed before us. No bathrobes in the bathroom had to request them twice for someone to bring them to our room. Pool closed because of safety reasons we understand this isn’t the staffs fault but they mislead us and gave us limited answers we have a baby and I am pregnant we walked to the pool because the staff told us we could use it after checkout to find out that it was actually closed for the day and we needed to go to darling hotel. The reason we booked star was because mainly for the pool and got no use out of it very disappointed! Overall not happy at all.

Staying at star residential suites was fantastic, great for a family stay. clean and roomy. enjoyed our stay thoroughly. great restaurants to eat at and close to everything. staff are professional and so helpful.

The only place we stay in Sydney is The Star and after this stay it’s unlikely we will stay here again. The standard and quality of the hotel is definitely in decline. Several maintenance issues, housekeeping is not what it use to be and lack of communication from staff is poor. For example broken balcony doors, waiting for towels for over two hours when trying to bath a toddler and told we had free parking and dining credit on check out. Previous stays have been disappointing but this stay is the straw that broke the camels back. They need to work on the issues they clearly have to get The Star back to the exceptional five star hotel they once were.

Charles Rahim loves the Star Grand Residences because it is centrally located within a minutes walk to cafes and bars. I also got an ungrade to a two bedroom apartment which I appreciated as a regular business traveler. The decor was amazing and the bathrooms were spacious and well appointment. I fully reccomend the Star Grand Residences to families, couples or business travellers .

My family and I absalutely loved our stay. The property was spacious, clean and beautiful. The kids loved the pool and husband loved being able to fish right at the front. We will be back again.

Check in experiences were terrible. It was such a quick turn around with no friendliness. No information given on how to access pools or facilities around. Dinning options are limited. Buffet is overpriced and there is a lot of selection but not good quality food. Fruits were old and pastries were dry. Rooms were small and bedding/pillows are terrible. Lighting in rooms especially bathroom is dark and bathrooms are cramped. Tiles and taps in bathroom were dirty and linen on pillows were stained. Took housekeeping over 2 hours to deliver clean towels. Overall feel of the area feels seedy and not family friendly. Not what to expect from a so called 5 star hotel. Would not stay here again.
