The Founders Inn and Spa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

We’re from Norfolk go home to visit a few times a year. I’ve been there for conferences but never to stay. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. There is plenty to do there such as the restaurant, pools, spa, play area for kids, or just walk around the grounds to look at the gardens. The location is quiet and central to everything being so close to 64. It’s going to be our new spot to stay when we don’t want to bunk with our kids! We went to a concert and it’s really close to the amphitheater.

Since I was visiting family, I really didn’t take part in most of what the hotel had to offer. But my room was excellent and the coffee was delicious.

My family and I enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!

Beautiful room and very clean. It was nice to be close to the University. Issue #1 the rooms are labeled at being sound proof. The issue is the doors are cut too high. People coming in and out woke us up at all hours. We had to stick a towel under the door and turn the fan on in the bathroom to cover the sound of people in the hallway. That was annoying. #2 we accidentally left a pillow of ours on the bed. We called the staff to alert them as someone we knew could run and pick it up for us. She said the room had not been cleaned and to call back. I called back. I was told to go to a website and file a missing item report, which I did. They never found my pillow which is obsurd. It was a king size pillow in a different pillowcase. It was left there. The customer service wasnt great. It should have been easy for them to grab it and for my family member to pop in a collect it.

Love the old look to the property but yet modern and renovated. The spa was wonderful, a fantastic experience. Rooms were cozy and quiet. We very much enjoyed our stay. Oh and the dog park was extremely large, 2 of them to accommodate a lot of furbabies.

Everything about this property is amazing! It is beautiful inside and out! The staff was extremely nice and pleasant. The pool was nice for both the kids and adults. Kid-friendly. Awesome fitness center. My only suggestion is for the temperature to be at a lower temperature. Located near so many stores. You wouldn't need to drive. Located 18 miles from the oceanfront. One morning I biked to the beach and back to the Inn. It was a safe route to bike. Our next trip to the beach we will be staying here again!

The Hotel Outer property is beautiful. The pool is nice .. has a slide kids love. The interior of the Hotel is old. The rooms are small , the sofa chairs are old and Make you wonder if they have ever been stream cleaned. We had a switch of rooms , the first had not been vacuumed or the floors / cleaned / mopped. The mirrors had finger prints .. the second room was clean. The sheets are very , very itchy and the bed was hard . No bed bugs though and front desk staff was delightful. I would not personally stay here again though .

My stay was very short but as it was Easter Sunday all the restaurants were closed. This is understandable, but it was frustrating that the water in the vending machines wasn't stocked and we practically had to beg for eating utensils. We finally asked for water upon check out. I was charged for it but I noticed others were just given water during my stay. It is important for staff to be with their families (I was in town to visit family as well), but would expect the hotel to properly prepare in advance. The drivers who shuttled us to the airport were very courteous and as non-drivers, we appreciate this service.

Second stay - I come to visit grandchildren- room service - wonderful- I was leaving with too heavy luggage - shuttle driver waited while another gentlemen helped with my luggage- I really appreciate the kindness- patience- I love the peaceful campus - tu jg

My family and I always look forward to our stay here. Each and every staff member and employee is courteous, friendly, and professional. At this time of year (December) the main building and grounds are even more beautiful than ever with all of the holiday decorations. We can't wait for our next stay.
