Howard Johnson by Wyndham Lexington

to start out the lady at the front desk was unbelievably rude. then when we went out on the balcony a bird swooped towards us and went into a hole in the outside of the wall. There were birds and baby birds living inside the wall of our room and we could hear them say and night. (we stayed 2 nights) when we went out to to the pool area my husband found a DEAD RAT SKELETON at the bottom. along with other trash. looked to me like no one cared enough to clean the pool out regularly. on our second day there was no room service provided. bed was not made no fresh towels or toiletries. and no one seemed to care that someone was smoking weed in the building and the entire place reared. every year we go to the drive through zoo and we have always stayed at this hotel. after this year i will NEVER come back. in the picture i provided, you can see the dead rat to the right of the pile of rocks.

Beautiful hilltop view, close to IHOP and brewery. Front clerk curtly checked us in, did not even refer to the free maps on the counter-we saw them on our own by luck. Our room was very clean but the “black out” curtains still allowed bright light in from the well-lit parking lot, the bathroom light and noisy fan go on together-this disturbing sleeping family in the middle of the night, the tub did not drain - filling with water during our showers. Holder with tissues pulling out of wall. Very good variety for breakfast except no bacon/sausage etc.

Friendly & helpful staff, clean, and convenient location. Slightly noisy - foot traffic - kids running down hallways - due to BMX competition @ Virginia horse center and every room booked. Breakfast good but mostly carbs - no eggs or meat. Despite these little issues, will book again without hesitation. Mike & Jenn

This was one of the nicest stays we've ever had at a motel! The hotel was clean, neat, well maintained and quiet. We had our fur baby so we had a room on the first floor that opened out onto the yard with all kinds of yard space to walk her. The staff was so friendly and helpful and our room was extremely comfortable and homey. We stayed five days and really hated to leave. 5 star all the way!

Absolutely NOT! Definitely not the Howard Johnson of old. Upon arrival we discovered that the room was infested with cockroaches! Not one or two but tons of babies also! So not being in the mood to share our room with this family we very quickly exited. When we reported this to the gentleman at the front desk he seemed pretty unfazed by this. Then looking around the lobby awaiting our refund, it seemed the bugs weren't just contained to the room.. I would strongly recommend passing this place by

Front desk area had no AC. Didn’t really effect me much. We area family of 4, only 2 towels in the room. I asked for 3 more towels (one extra for my hair) the guy told me he doesn’t have enough so just gave me 2 more. Ice machine on both floors were broken. Our toilet got clogged after one use. I went and told him and he offered me a plunger. I told him I wasn’t doing plumbing work and he was extremely annoyed and said he’d switch my room. Handed me the key with no apology, just silent. I asked when pool was opening and he told me 11am which is our checkout time. It’s opened. 9am. Bathroom floor was lined with lint, fuzz, and other people’s body hair. I’m just great full we didn’t get bed bugs. I hope the guy finds a job he actually likes.

I booked this hotel primary because it had a pool. I had my child with me and we were going to have some down time. The health department had shut the pool down. I made the reservation through Expedia and was told by the man at the front desk to contact Expedia and I wouldn't have to pay for the reservation. I tried calling Expedia and was on hold longer than I had tome for. I contacted Expedia the next morning and was told the hotel would still be charging me for 1 night because I didn't contact Expedia the day before. I was not told it had to be the same day. Do not waste your time and money on this place. The customer service is horrible!!

I liked the breakfast choices (waffle maker and bagels), location, bath mat. Didn't like that the pool was not opened. I heard a disappointed parent tell his kids, all dressed for the pool, that they couldn't use the pool.

Loved the super hot water, balcony, and the playground for kids was a bonus.

Stayed 1 night (we were traveling through); hotel was well priced, very clean, felt homey. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast area was spacious, breakfast itself was typical but had plenty of options for my somewhat fussy family. Definitely bookmarking this one for future stays. The swinging benches in the front sealed the deal!
