Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown - University, an IHG Hotel

Good location, price and clean. Service was ok. More of a kids and family environment at the pool if that is what you are seeking.

Booked and paid for 1 night at this property. The room itself was just ok, felt musty and damp, even with the AC on. Pillows were flat and lumpy. Shower pressure was weak. Proximity to restaurants and entertainment is great, though. Unfortunately, my son became very ill. We are from Corpus Christi, 3 hours away from Austin, and with an approaching tropical storm, I felt it best to check out and get him back home to get him medical help. Instead of leaving the key cards in the room and leaving, I took them to the front desk. I had paid $40 for valet parking and had to retrieve my car from the parking garage myself with a sick child in tow. Upon return home I noticed I was charged $75 for early departure fee, even though I had already prepaid for the whole night. I called and talked with Ryan, who after explanation of circumstances, agreed to waive the charge. The fact I was billed this additional fee in the first place is enough to deter me from ever staying at another IHG property again. The quality does not match the price.

I do not recommend the Hotel Indigo in Austin. I was there three nights and encountered only one kind employee. The maid staff never cleaned or even checked the bathroom, which was out of bodywash. The thermostat resets at night so you end up sweating and uncomfortable. On my final two nights, a huge party of college kids was booked on my floor and proceeded to loudly party until 3:00 a.m. I've stayed at nicer budget hotels.

Food Service was awesome. Housekeeping did a great job with the cleaning in the room. Pool was spacious and perfect for families/friends. Valet guys were very fast and always holding the door. Maintenance issues, very poor. Sink drainage issues, shower door never closes correctly so have to wipe down water every time (for someone staying 5 days with a family of 4), Toilet seat moves every time it is used, and even if AC unit is turned off, big jumping running noise comes on every 15min and wakes you up in the middle of the night. Customer Service was great, until you have something that concerns you, they become passive aggressive. They try to move rooms for you, as they cut you off because they don't want to hear it at the end. Whats the point of moving if they say that's how maintenance issues are like in all the rooms in the whole building?

We love staying at Hotel Indigo whenever we are in town at concerts, especially Stubb’s. The staff (most of which have been there long-term) are super-friendly, helpful and fun. The pool and indoor and outdoor bars are super-fun and the rooms are always clean. This stay we accidentally booked the wrong sized room (King) and had a family of four and Otilia at the front desk made it quickly and patiently, better than all-right. She totally hooked us up! We will be back as soon as we can!
