DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City

There were numerous unsheltered people loitering around the hotel. There is an area with exterior stairs that go down to a lower level of the hotel, there was an unsheltered person half naked yelling at passerby, and it smelled like urine and human waste. There was a lot of noise from people screaming on the streets and people on ATV and dirt bikes driving up and down in front of the hotel and the police just watching not doing anything. This went on into the early hours. There was a staff member that hunted my family down into the elevator and stuck his hand into the elevator and it scared us. He was very stern and lacked any customer service etiquette when addressing my family and I about our two registered dogs that traveled with us. He demanded our hotel room number and I advised that our dogs were registered to the room. Overall my experience of Philadelphia is not great, the city is really dirty, garbage everywhere, the areas to access the subway smelled terrible of urine and human feces. There was vomit and human feces smeared on several buildings. There were some excellent restaurants and really cool historic and modern architecture but if you are planning to travel with young kids and dogs, I would recommend going somewhere cleaner and safer.

I liked that the hotel was located in a convenient area and made walking around the city easy. The staff was nice and friendly. The hotel was clean despite it been fully booked with families.

Service was awful! They took forever to bring 2 additional bath towels as we were 4 guests and the bathroom only had 2. Pool was disgusting, (found a band aid and fake eye lashes). My kids got yelled by staff in lobby and breakfast bussers were rude. Would not stay there again and do not recommend.

Sander was our concierge when we checked and he always made it a point to wave at us, coming or going. Loved the location and we had a corner room on the 8th floor which was nice and big for me and my two children. Highly recommend staying there.

Smell of marijuana cigarette smoke in hallways and rooms. Dirty room with bad smell. Very disappointed with this stay with my family.

Our room grossed me out. I was there with my family and it was only an overnight stay after attending a concert across the street at Kimmel. I checked in our room and hurried ourselves to get ready for the concert and by the time i realized the brownish water behind the toilet cover and the brownish stain that ran down the side of the toilet, it was already too late to switch room because our 2 young kids have changed and gone to bed. The water was leaking through the ceiling and guess what's directly above the toilet. Another toilet of course. I had no choice but to clean up the yucky water myself because it's already too late for a change of room and no house keeping at 10pm. We have been sitting on the toilet cover that have been splattered with toilet water from the 1 above us! Gross! There were some brown stains in the white bathtub as well. I hope those are just some rust/hard water stain... I was contemplating snapping a pic of the toilet but didnt do so because i really want to forget how gross that bathroom was. I'm hoping the management would do something to fix that leak in room 2404. I love the location of the hotel and i love the arts. But if I were to book a room there again, i'll be sure to check the bathroom before settling down.

Didn’t stay. Mice in the room. Rooms are not properly cleaned which I’m sure is contributing to the mice. Ruined our mini family vacation.

The hotel was OK for an overnight stay. Pool was broken during our stay which was a disappointment for my family.

Great place for families at a beautiful location.

Check-in was quick and efficient and 4 chocolate chip cookies were handed over. Questions were answered and I was in my room in no time. I did find a nut on the floor that was missed by housekeeping. The parking lot next door is really convenient but not cheap at $38 for 12-24 hours. It is a very narrow twisty, turny, parking lot that's a little tricky to navigate with a big car. The gym was pretty good and the pool was a kind of murky. I was hard pressed to find my kids when I was swimming under water unless I was a foot away from them. Th location can't be beat if you are there to see a performance at the Kimmel Center. My kids saw a late showing of the Lion King and they walked across the street after and went to bed. Pretty cool. I would definitely stay there again for future shows.
