Home2 Suites by Hilton Dayton Vandalia

Walked into the first room they assigned to us and it was dirty so we had to go back down to the front desk and get a new room. The second room was nice and spacious and clean. Just wish we had known the pool was closed as that was one of the main things our kids were looking forward to staying at this hotel. Sounded like it had been closed for awhile. Also took my daughter down to get breakfast and it was just before 9am and they were having none of that. They shut the curtains while we were attempting to get breakfast. Other than that, it was a decent stay. Go get breakfast well before 9am if you want to eat :)

Everything was mostly fine. Very surprised to find the pool was saltwater, rare to find for most hotels I use! Plenty of nearby food options that you can walk to, even the Walmart or Sams if you need them. Our room seemed to stay on the warm side. I like a colder room to sleep in, never really went below 73. Found the bed was full of what looked like dog hair. Went to the front desk about it, they offered a room change. Since I was already unpacked, politely gave a counteroffer of how about we just change sheets? Front desk quickly came to the room with sheets in hand. Agreed that the bed sheets definitely needed changing and took care of it their self in 5 minutes! Lauren at the front desk was excellent with it! Hotel was fairly quiet even with so many kids there for a large youth soccer tournament.

We came for the pool. Not our first pick next time for the pool. It was a little cooler than expected and cloudy so it looked dirty. The room was great. There were a lot of younger kids playing ding dong ditch with pounding on the door and running the hallways clear until 3am. That was frustrating with 2 young toddlers.

The staff was very pleasant. We brought our family dogs and it was very comfortable and inviting. This place was absolutely amazing from the breakfast staff, front desk, the room, we definitely recommend. Thanks for a good experience with our fur babies and family.

Check in was smooth and the room was spacious and well kept. However we stayed here to get some rest as this was a half way point in our trip. At 12:30am our walls and ceiling started vibrating from music in the room above us. We called the front desk the women said she would investigate it. 20 minutes music still rattling the walls and now our dog and baby (13 mo) are now awake and crying....call down again...they believe they identified the music and are handling it. 20 more minutes...it's now 1:20am....I physically get out bed because no one is sleeping at this point and go physically search the hallways above us since the staff couldn't figure out where it was coming from and low and behold I get off the elevator and indeed it was the room above us which management would of realized if they would of look. I walk downstairs and management is in the back office on the computer and seems annoyed that I've interrupted them to tell them it indeed was the room above us and that we have a baby and a dog and both are awake. At checkout I mention this and the best I got was "Oh that is horrible, I'm sorry".....also the entire facility is to be smoke free but people sit right out the front door and smoke which causes the smoke to get into the main lobby and throughout the building.....reminds of college not a Hilton property charging $249.00 a night....avoid!

Overall great place to stay. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The suites are wonderful for families. The breakfast is nice and the pool is a good size. Everything in the hotel is very clean and up to date. The only issue we have ever had at a home2hilton was during the most recent stay. Our thermostat wasn’t working in our room. We informed the front desk staff early Saturday morning. Unfortunately it never was fixed and didn’t work for our entire stay and the room was too warm for our comfort. I’m sure it was an isolated incident and we will still be staying at their hotels in the future.
