Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dayton North - Vandalia, an IHG Hotel

I was in another city for another reason the night before, and left the outdoor event I was at to go to a funeral for a family member in Springfield. I stopped at the hotel since we were staying there that night at 1:30 since I had to be at the funeral home at 2:30. I asked them if the room was already empty and if I could go ahead and check in and clean up and change before I went even though check-in time wasn't until 3 or 4 pm. And they were happy to let me. I would have struggled so much trying to get dressed in a gas station bathroom. I am so grateful for them allowing me to go ahead and check in so I could get dressed. They even offered condolences on my loss. Amazing staff! Also, the hotel was super clean, quiet, and in great condition. The breakfast was good and quite a bit to select from. The location was perfect as well, close to everything. Thank you for making our stay great in a not so great time for us.

This hotel was great for a pit stop on our ay from a beach vacation. The room was perfect for our family of four. In fact we even ordered the same comforter when we got home easier it was the softest comforter ever. The breakfast, pool, and work out room were all fantastic.

We got there at a time when it was quiet and the parking was great for us. Made it super easy to unload and load back up. Bedding was comfortable for our family and spacious enough for a good rest. And surprisingly the cable had the channels we wanted, so the kids were able to enjoy some shows, while we got to watch a soccer game we had been looking forward to. We had to checkout really early to get back on the road and the staff was polite and it was overall a really sweet experience.

Was conveniently located near restaurants and access to the expressway. Was very disappointed that the pool was not heated due to a maintenance problem. We traveled 3 hours to visit our grandkids and could not use the pool with them

My stay was stress free. I was here for a family funeral The beds were very comfortable.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The front desk woman that helped us, Pat, was extremely hospitable. She put our two families right across the hall from each other, even tho we had different arrival days, and was quick to help with things we needed. The breakfast was delicious, with lots of options available, and housekeeping staff was quick to supply us with extra towels and blankets when asked. The surrounding areas were very convenient for dining and shopping. Definitely will return. Thank you so much, Pat, and the rest of the staff.

Very disappointed. Came specifically so my kids could enjoy swimming and pool was cold. Very upset.

I didn’t get to experience this property, because they oversold and did not honor my reservation. I was not informed of this until after arriving for check-in, so I could not make other arrangements. After a long day at a soccer tournament, my family and I arrived to find they could not accommodate us. By this time, it was late and we just wanted to rest, and every other hotel in the area was full so we had no choice but to accept their offer to stay at another location 30 miles away, and farther from the fields we would be returning to the next day. Another inconvenience hinged on the food order we had placed with an establishment down the street, with the intention of checking in and getting the meal to take back to the room. Instead, we had to wait for the order, and could not leave town until it was ready. Overall we have no complaints with the property or the staff, they were very apologetic. Our complaint is with a system that allows not only overselling the hotel, but not notifying us that we would need to stay elsewhere. Do better, Holiday Inn. Do better, Expedia.

My husband and I were very impressed with the service we recieved. The front desk lady, Pat, was super welcoming and sweet. The entire facility and the rooms were impeccable. The whole place smelled wonderful as well. The breakfast buffet was delicious and everything was cooked with much care. The breakfast area was extremely clean. I felt very comfortable having my kids here.

Hotel is newer, roughly 6 months I believe. I booked this hotel for my family as it has the larger rooms that cab sleep 6. Two of the main reasons i chose this hotel was because it has a pool for my kids and a pancake maker as some of them are picky when it comes to breakfast foods, neither of which were operational during our stay. You would of thought some issues would have been communicated to prior to checking in to the hotel. Housekeeping was poor as we found trash throughout and cup rings on the nightstand. 2 of the 3 pumps in the shower were empty so had to go to the front desk to get them, along with linens for the sofabed. Its nice because its a newer hotel but clearly going be quickly degrading if this is the usual care this hotel recieves. Sadly im not usually not one to complain but my kids were very disappointed they couldnt swim or have much breakfast options for kids other than cereal.
