DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Rocky Mount

I was extremely disappointed with our stay. I chose this hotel based on reviews and safety as I was traveling with my sister and 2 young great grandchildren. The room was overpriced, the pool was out of order, and the ice machine was out of order. Staff was unfriendly.

The room had several areas where dust/or rust had built up. The tub didn't drain when showering. Water pressure was low. Pool was out of order, not good when travelling with kids. There was only one elevator working, so I had to take the stairs to and from the 3rd floor several times as there was a large family reunion group staying while I was there. Upon arriving back to the hotel at 11pm, the large group of family reunion participants were gathered outside of the hotel entrance which made it none to inviting. The hotel staff should have asked them to move indoors away from the entrance. No usb ports for charging in the rooms. Woke up to loud beeping and window washing outside.

We came for a soccer tournament and there was a baseball tournament happening at same time. Young kids were allowed to be running around in hotel and in parking lot.

Hotel was generally good and had a Texas Steakhouse with a nice bar on the first floor. Complimentary breakfast was kind of lame, and a family in front of me left very disappointed. There was a lot of construction going on at the time. Good access to the highway though.

There didn’t seem to be enough people on staff at the desk. There was no trash bag in the room and another family member mentioned the same issue in her room. The room needed a good vacuuming, especially under the desk. There were crumbs by the tv stand and I never had food in the room, only drinks. It felt like the place had not been thoroughly wiped down in a while. When i checked in and got to the room, the HEAT was on and it was like 75 degrees in there according to the thermostat and for two days the room never cooled properly. I only even felt the air was on if i sat right by the air conditioner. The thermostat, however kept reading out high 70s even though i set it to like 67. I tried to order room service when i got back from my event, but they either took the phone off the receiver or otherwise just didn’t answer it. I tried multiple times for 2 hours during the stated dinner room service hours. Yeah it just wasn’t great.

We had bugs, mold, and a broken toilet. My nephew had ants in his bed. The hotel room doors were filthy to touch. At ten pm they moved us to a new room but it reaked of marijuana smoke. They came about ten pm and sprayed. They said no accommodation could be made since we booked with expedia. This was for our family reunion weekend.

Easily the worst property I've had the misfortune of staying in for the past forty years. The trim and painting throughout looked as if a child had done it. The first room had no light over the door in the hallway. A gaping hole stood in its place. The door had to be body-slammed to open. The toilet seat was broken and wobbly. The TV did not work. The phone did not work. We changed rooms only to find another broken phone and a toilet which wouldn't stop running unless it was turned off at the floor. The only way to flush it was by taking off the tank lid and manually lifting the ballcock. A remarkably awful property.

Our room was fine but we did overhear another guest at the desk telling them his room's ac wasn't working and there was mold on the unit and stains on the white comforter and asking for a new room or all the issues to be resolved before he returned from an outing with his children.

Service was poor pool was under maintenance but was not updated on the website and one of my pillows had something that looked like blood and I was never given a new one. Oh and one of the draws on the dresser was broken. I had four children with me and it was very disappointing cuz the reason we booked this hotel was for the pool.

-Front doors were surrounded by smokers. -Was required to book through Expedia (while standing at the front desk) in order to get a better price. -Front desk staff was more interested in socializing with friends loitering around desk than providing customer service. -WiFi was not working and staff did not provide assistance -Pool was closed -Hotel was FULL of little league boys and their families camped all over the interior and exterior of the building in lawn chairs with coolers of beer and empty pizza boxes -Halls smelled of marijuana -Fan in bathroom did not work -Room was dingy
