John Yancey Oceanfront Inn

Our room was clean, Check-in was a breeze, at night the area is very well lit, we had plenty of towels and the room was already cool on a very hot day on the beach. Parking is monitored with a parking pass. There were not any loud obnoxious neighbors either. Very family friendly. We only stayed one night but we enjoyed our stay. This is a great location also, near most everything, centrally located in OBX.

Absolutely will stay here again, total beach vibe, great room and size for family loved the bathtub, loved the cleanliness you could smell the second you walked in the room, breakfast was good

As I have knee issues they accommodated us with an easy access room. The room was comfortable and had the things we needed for our stay. Our trip was cut short for a family emergency and they were compassionate for our issues and gave us direction of how to handle the rest of our booked stay

Customer service was especially helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well organized. My family loved this placed and will definitely stay again this summer. Unlike other places we looked at you don't have to cross the road to get to the beach - this hotel is literally on the beach. Thanks to the staff and we hope to see you soon!

Amazing place to stay with family. We had three rooms and all rooms are nice and clean. Just right by the beach so our kids had so much fun watching the sunrise and playing. Thank you to the nice staff as well.

The property was clean and had a great location. The downfalls were the fact that they put us in a room that was “conjoined,” but there was an entirely different family next door. We/they could see directly under the doors, which didn’t feel very secure or safe. Additionally, there is zero sound-proofing.

Please fix the stairwell door near room 128. It slams shut and woke us up several different times over the course of our two stay. Also, there was a constant smell of marijuana in our bathroom. Obviously your no smoking policy is enforced. My family will stay at another motel durning our next trip to once.

My husband and I booked for a quick weekend trip. The reservation got messed up & the hotel called to say that they no longer had the King bed partial ocean view that we reserved, but they could give us 2 queen beds with an ocean view. We said that would be fine if that’s what it had to be (but the kind of bed was a purposeful choice when we reserved it) We get to our room and although this was considered an upgrade, there was a 2-3 inch gap in the barn door style bathroom door so that it didn’t shut all the way. There was a latch to lock, but still no privacy when people can see in there when you are using the bathroom or taking a shower. The bathroom door handle was also missing. The ceiling fan had folded cardboard stuck all around it presumably to keep from rocking. The plastic shower head holder broke off leaving the head to dangle making for a miserable shower. Although not the hotels fault at all, oceanfront was NOT a bonus when you couldn’t be outside for all the dope being smoked by other patrons on their balconies. Glad we didn’t have the kids with us. This made us not be able to enjoy the balcony and ocean view. Then, wasn’t able to watch TV because TV is internet based as opposed to cable and the internet (this is off season mind you) couldn’t support streaming shows. Kept buffering and freezing. Definite disappointment.

The staff of this family-owned Inn are absolutely amazing and friendly people. We have found our forever place to stay at the Outerbanks. Thanks to everyone at John Yancey Oceanfront Inn.

This hotel was surprisingly clean. They had staff there very late into the evening still cleaning around the property. It smells nice in all of the facilities. Staff was friendly. We enjoyed the playground for the kids, the convenience of the outdoor restrooms, the breakfast they served, and access to the beach. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.
