Hampton Inn & Suites Mahwah

Stayed here to while attending a family reunion. We booked 6 rooms for the weekend. The rooms could’ve used a good cleaning, air fresheners and a few updates. The breakfast was sub par at best. We stay at Hampton Inns all the time, this one needs a revamp. However, the front desk staff was excellent! They were very friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our very large crowd. Matt was awesome!

The pool was out of order. I even called weeks in advance to make sure there was a pool. We have 2 autistic boys and it is hard to travel with them and a pool is a must. We didn’t find out until we checked in at 10:30 at night after 12 hour drive. The front desk man wasn’t very nice, he basically said you can go somewhere else. At 10:30 at night, 3 kids it was very disappointing. After checking surrounding hotels everything was booked! The refrigerator also barely worked on our room. We stayed a week and after returning home my husband contacted the GM and was basically told sorry but no compensation was offered. We will not return to this hotel or recommend it to anyone else.

We only booked the hotel for one night, to split driving hours between destinations. Hotel was ok, the only sad thing is that the pool was closed for the whole July month and we didnt know, it was not specified when we reserved. We choose hotel based on available services like everyone... The kids would have enjoyed the pool for an 1h or 2 for sure. Its located next to the highway so be prepared to hear cars passing all night long if your room is in front, like it was our case. Breakfast is included, I was expecting higher quality.

It was disappointing having called the hotel to make sure they have a pool to get there and them saying it has been out of service and will stay that way indefinitely. What I don’t get is why advertise that they have a pool and not have it. My kids were very disappointed to say the least. The room had some stains on the floor and sofa the bathroom tub and toilet and stains and the air conditioner had so much dust my allergies were flaring. I will say that the breakfast was good.

The Pool was green and closed. Lighting issues as well. Treadmills were broken in Gym. Also, we found rust or blood on our drapes. Mattresses were clean and sheets are clean but we had to move our first room as the staff does not clean the hotel very well. We took several pics of dirt / dust / stains... The Hampton chains seem inconsistent. The new ones are fantastic and the older ones are tires and run down. In this particular hotel we smelled marijuana a lot in the elevators and from the people staying there. Not great when you are travelling with little kids. Staff was fantastic but there is only so much they can do.

I really appreciate the fact that I was assigned an big room (as it has been the case in all my previous stay in other hotels), for my family of 5 including a crib for my little toddler (2yo). Also, an important soccer game was on tv and I was able to watch it at the lobby. I left a board game for you to try, it was designed by one of my friends travelling with me. Thanks!

My family was very pleased with our stay. Great Continental breakfast, and all of the staff was very friendly. The room was very spacious and the bathroom smelled like bleach! We will definitely be staying here again as we visit Mahwah frequently. My only personal issue was the softness of the bed- for those like myself who prefer a firm mattress, the mattress was quite soft. But the linens were comfortable and clean.

We stayed here two nights. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Adjusting our room assignment to have our family on the same floor, while accommodating handicap needs. Breakfast was included each morning; which included eggs, meat, variety of breads, fresh fruits, oatmeal and waffles.

The staff was wonderful specifically the gentleman that worked the breakfast on Sunday morning. Sent above and beyond to care for not just me and my family, but for other folx there as well. Was wonderful to someone so engaged and HAPPY in their work. You could see their pride and it was wonderful to experience
