Crowne Plaza Suffern - Mahwah, an IHG Hotel

The rooms were quite, except for the air compressor noise. The toilet was for kid, and not suitable for adults. Otherwise very nice.

Great family and pet friendly place.

In town for a few days for a small family reunion. Easy to find, beautiful natural surroundings. No Issues with the place. Clean, reasonably priced and friendly and helpful staff. Need a car if you want to shop eat off site etc. I would come here again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a night because of my son‘s robotic competition at the local community college unfortunately, one of the hotel staff members knocked on our door around 8 PM and decided to just walk in without giving us a chance to answer. Contacted the front desk spoke to supervisor who just blew it off, again the next day I spoke to supervisor on duty and was told it was an honest mistake. How does a hotel staff member just walk into an occupied room and not wait for it to be answered. With the amount of kids who is staying at this hotel because of the bias competition it’s very concerning that hotel staff are just walking into occupied rooms.

I stay at this hotel multiple times a year to visit family and it is usually excellent. I was disappointed by two security-related issues this time: 1) The deadbolt on my room door did not work (the slot for the bolt was not big enough). When I told the staff at the desk, they immediately gave me a new room with a working deadbolt. 2) I found tape covering the door-lock mechanism on one of the entrances from the parking lost (I assume someone put it there to enable getting in without a key). I removed the tape and then found that the door did not lock. I told the staff at the desk and they said they would ask their security people to look into it. Although I was disappointed by these two security issues, the staff was immediately responsive. I hope the hotel fixes these issues promptly because they are security hazards.

Started by being told to park near door 2. By driving around I found door 1 and 3 so the unnumbered door between them was 2. After barely acceptable breakfast, I had to guess which unsigned elevator serviced my set of room numbers. The water in the toilet made sitting down cold and wet. Spent hours awaiting engineering who finally provided a booster that was small enough for a child. Asked a couple of other men and they had the same but toughed it out. Too embarassing.

I would’ve given this place much higher marks if the cooling system in our room worked. I had the thermostat set on “cool” and 65 degrees but the room wouldn’t cool off below 72 and there were no windows and for me and my family, that feels hot and uncomfortable. 69 is reasonable and I can sleep in that, but 72 is tough. I’m sure most people don’t mind 72; I do and a hotel should be able to meet its guests where the guest is.

We checked in on the later side after a day of traveling, and was greeted by helpful desk staff. We had called ahead and requested a crib that was ready in the room soon arrival making the transfer of the baby from car to crib seemless. Athlough we didn’t spend much time in the actual hotel, the area was nice and the grounds well maintained. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again when in the area.

We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights total split between two different stays within a 10 day period. The first part of our stay was okay-nothing special. The free wifi didn’t work well at all which was an issue for the kids who wanted to watch videos and us when we needed to work. The door to our room was broken and kept getting stuck in the closed position. Our second room, the bathroom door was broken, the shower had no water pressure. It was on a side of the hotel opposite the main door and we were told we could enter with our key cards at the doors on the other side of the hotel (closer to our room) but the doors didn’t open with our keycard and we had to walk around the entire hotel every time we left and returned which was frustrating with two kids and belongings. Housekeeping is only available daily if you request it for an extra fee but they are supposed to come collect the trash if you leave it outside the room first thing in the morning- they didn’t. For the price per night I was expecting better.

There were dirty dishes outside my door to my room from before I checked in there until I left, for all I know they are still there. (I did photo it as my family couldn't believe it) For $165.00 I will not stay in that hotel when I visit my family again. I will search for a better property. No lunch in that hotel I had to go searching for one and the hotel bar closes at 9pm on a Saturday? Breakfast was horrible and all the bread was stale, eggs and sausage wasn't even put out until way after opening time of 7am. To say the least I was was not happy.
