Homewood Suites by Hilton Portsmouth

We went there to spend a family weekend get away for one night. The room we had was great and amenities was awesome. I do have a complain with my check in experience and the front desk service for the rest of the night. This person was not happy to help us at all. He didnt seem like he want to be there at all. Later in the evening I when down to ask for extra towels. He took it out of the closet and just kind of throw it at me and said nothing or even make eyes contact and took off. I did not appreciate that type of service at all. For a hospitality facility he sure not showing hospitable. I was disappointed for the service with this person.

We stayed here for one night for UNH's family weekend. The hotel was clean however our room wreaked of cigarette smoke and the pull-out couch was very uncomfortable. It wasn't enough to complain about at the time for one night but if we were staying longer it would have been more of an issue.

Run far away! The reviews on this hotel were mostly positive so I booked for our family getaway to Portsmouth. Having stayed at Homewood Suites in the past in a different location, I expected a similar experience here. The quality overall was extremely poor, especially for the price we paid. The plumbing backed up several times, there were really noisy long term renters above us, people smoking weed on the walkways on the property, no one answering calls to the front desk, strange rendezvous happening in the parking lot, and generally just an unsafe feeling. Either there is really poor management or they are desperate for business. I would not recommend to others.

We checked in very late to a room I reserved well in advance and were given a smokers room. It was terrible for my family. Cable tv also did not work. The is a strobe light type flicker on the smoke detector every three seconds that will drive you insane. Property was nice and staff was great but the actual room was brutal. Would not stay again and or recommend. We stay at homewood suits often and love them. Avoid this one however.

WORST experience ever. Check in was at 4 but could not get in our room till almost 6. The beds are miserable and we all had little sleep. The pool has unsupervised childen running around and no staff to control the havoc. The location was the only plus and the fact we were not there during the day. NEVER AGAIN!

This was one of the dirtiest rooms I’ve ever gotten on a reservation. Semen stains on the duvet cover, mystery mold in the shower, beard or pubic shavings in drawers and along headboard of bed. Sheet was inside out, was it actually fresh? Dirt in the refrigerator, food and dirt along floors where the vacuum doesn’t reach. Elevators full of dog urine and hair and just plain smelly. When the front desk was confronted with the problem they handed me a card and told me to call the manager. The manager never answered or called back. Every surface was gross. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks at the breakfast buffet. I chose not to eat. I stay in a LOT of hotels and this was hands down one of the grossest next to a super 8 in a cruddy neighborhood. I mean I took another shower when I got home. NOT what I was expecting out of a hotel in the Hilton family. Not even an apology from a manager. Although I’m not surprised because the front desk person was too busy trying to pay their credit card via phone when I complained… won’t be returning, and probably will never use the homewood group again.

When we arrived our first room smelled of marijuana. The smell was not faint, I would say it was most aptly described as potent. We immediately went to the front desk where apologies were given and a new room was provided. The second room was in a much better state. It was clean and smelled much better. I would say the staff was responsive and understanding. However, the experience from there made the hotel much less family friendly and undesirable. With a 3 month old and a 4 year old the stampede of people apparently staying in the room above us combined with the episode of cops taking place right outside our window (literally 10 feet from the window), I do not think we will be staying again. We have stayed before on our trips up to Maine, but this experience was so bad, I just dont think its worth the gamble.
