Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel

Not our first time there and definitely not the last time. Friendly staff, nice area, very convenient, and family friendly. I wish they would renovate the rooms more though, but in general it is a very nice hotel.

After a long and hectic day with family for Christmas, Doug (valet) and Joe (front desk) greeted us with great smiles and generous service. The room was cozy and welcoming, the hotel spotless. We all had a restful sleep to prepare for the long drive home.

I was promised the world (early check in and upgraded room in 20 minutes) and ended up waiting 2 hours, an hour after normal check in. The room was nice but my apology was a free breakfast which I already paid for as a club option. Nicer breakfast was not kid friendly and defeated the purpose.

Big disappointment! We picked the Sheraton because it has an indoor pool and the temps were going to be below zero all weekend. Arrived and learned (after unpacking and getting suits on) that pool is closed for a month. I get that this sort of stuff happens, but the front desk staff did not really seem to care. They did offer a YMCA swim pass, but we had been planning on a low-key family trip to a hotel with pool, not heading out to the Y, which we can do at home. We left and switched to Hampton Inn the next morning. It cost less, had a perfect pool, immaculate rooms, had a great stay. At the Sheraton, our headboard had a huge dent in it and the whole place was kind of dingy. The food in the restaurant downstairs was really bad. At least we know to book the Hampton Inn next time.
