The facility is lovely. The check-in was a disaster. Upon arriving at 4:15, waiting more than 20 minutes to get a check-in associate, I was told no rooms were yet available, and there was no guarantee that we would get a room. She said my phone number would be put in a queue and that they would notify my if and when a room was available. She said that I would not be prioritized, since I booked through a third provider rather than booking directly. She never apologized that rooms were not yet available and she was very accusatory that I booked through a third party, suggesting this was an inadequate reservation. They did provide access to the fitness center so that my family could get dressed for our evening event. When we returned at 11:00 after our event, a room was made available. But no apologies were ever made for the inconvenience and disrespect.

Great stay! We stayed here as part of a short family trip. We have 3 boys ages 4, 9, and 12. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were fairly comfortable (a pretty typical hotel bed), but the bedding was a little thin (maybe it’s the summer bedspread?). We appreciated the pull out sofa which made sleeping 5 very easy. The bathroom was clean, but the tub drained VERY slowly, so you were standing in ankle deep water by the end of your shower. The pool is great and we loved the kiddy pool. We haven’t stayed at many places that make it easy for younger kids to enjoy the pool. Our 4 year old loved it - and the fountains. Our older 2 loved both sides of the pool. Our first night, there were no clean towels and no one restocked them in the hour we were there, so that was a little bit of a bummer, but we managed. We LOVED that this was an easy walk to the Plaza and enjoyed being close to so many different restaurants and shops as well as the Nelson Adkins museum. Parking at the hotel was easy, but once we parked, we walked everywhere we needed to go which was really nice.

Said check in was at 4:00 pm. We checked in at 4:45 and they had no rooms available. Had to wait over an hour to get a room. Once we got a room the key cards weren’t working and we had to be escorted to our room and every time we left the room and to be escorted back to the room which was a time waste as there were many others in the same situation. Pool was freezing cold and dirty. Our power went out at home for a few days so we decided to splurge on what we thought was a nice hotel for the kids to at least have some fun pool time. It was disappointing.

We love Kansas City but this was our first time staying near Country Club Plaza. This hotel is PERFECT for location. All the shopping, entertainment and dining is extremely walkable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However the portion of the hotel we stayed in seemed a little run down. At first glance it looked fine but once you looked closer you could see corners were cut and upkeep has been relaxed. Our room had a balcony with sliding doors which we loved leaving opening and enjoying the view. The room was a very decent size for a family of 4 and overall it was a good stay. I just hope they keep up on the maintenance and do good work.

When we arrived we were told we didnt have a room. The front desk guy had an attitude from the moment i walked up. I eventually got a key to a room but when we opened the door it was tiny! The guy had downgraded the room from what we paid for. I called downstsirs and the guy said "you got a room didnt you?" The room was awful. I tried to explain we paid for an upgraded room but the guy got really nasty. I had hom on speakerphone and my husband was atunned at how he was speaking to me. My husband took the telephone and tried to resson with him but the guy said "youre acting like children!" And hung up. The rom was so hot we slept with the balcony door open in 30⁰⁰ temp. I spoke with manager who said wed be moved but nothing! Manager also offered a refund but when Hotels.com reached out he denied it! The room was so bad and i didnt want to run into front desk guy so i left a day early. Was the worst hotel stay weve ever had and absolut worst customer service we've ever experienced. Were told they do not have to honor Hotels.com "requests" i tjought we paid for the room and it was a sure thing. I guess not...

Annual family trip to plaza, we stay at intercontinental each year. Cleanliness has gone downhill. The rooms are deteriorating with wallpaper bubbling & peeling, urine stained shower curtains, paint missing/issues on ceiling, etc. The service wasn’t so great last year with a 1hr checkin; this year it was challenging with having to change rooms multiple times as they did not initially provide the room type we purchased, then the room wasn’t ready (so we came back), and then they switched us to another room for reasons unknown to us.

I was truly disappointed in the whole stay. I booked the room months in advance and paid a lot of money for a junior suite with two balconies facing the plaza. That is not what I got. What a special holiday night ended up in such disappointment for myself and my family.

Our first night we never had our room cleaned and we were gone all day. My dads room had children’s cereal on the floor that was never vacuumed. And his phone didnt work. He couldn’t call for room service. We notified the front desk. They didn’t get the phone fixed and the number they gave him to call with his cell was never answered.

Rooms where to small for family of 4. Requested 2 queen beds but was given 2 full. We were told none were available. Room vents had dust built up as if they have not been clean in months. Housekeeping was amazing. Clean extra towels and rooms were cleaned daily. Parking garage gate was always broken. Key card never worked. We had to wait every time we entered or existed the garage but was still charged $30 per day. Parking garage was not well maintained. Restaurant was average.
