The Leo Collection Detroit, Ascend Hotel Collection

I requested adjoining rooms because I have a small child and teenager and was told when I got there by the lady at the front desk then found out the following day by different front desk they were definitely available. The original lady was rude and condescending. Toilet over flowed in my room and was moved down the hall from my kids to a handicapped room.

We were greeted with wait for no apparent reason, then despite having booking under one name, all of the IDs from different family members were asked to be presented (very odd). Rae was able to give all 3 rooms on same floor. Furniture seemed worn or of cheap quality. Bedding was really neat and comfortable. Breakfast had only frozen boiled eggs and not many options. Bread, butter and cream cheese. Better to spend money on Dunkin than relying for breakfast here. Pool was under construction so had no access. Soda machine was all empty ‘sold out’. Fitness center or Gym was in okay condition.

Unless you absolutely have to stay there, don’t. The pool not working was first red flag, followed by rude customer service at check-in, closing with no working elevator in the facility. I was on the third floor and I have a non-visible disability. It was Memorial Day weekend, I was traveling with a child and support animal, my options were limited. Keep scrolling for a better place if you can.

It was a very nice place. Staff was friendly. very clean. Room was set up very well/Comfortable. Slept like baby.. LOL. Anytime i need to go back to Detroit. i will be booking here.

Loud kids in room next door. Not enough towels and toilet paper in the bathroom.

The bed was harder than the floor & on risers so it came up past my waist. I could not get into the bed w/o assistance-which may sound funny but at 4am I SERIOUSLY considered sleeping in the tippy office chair vs the impossibly difficult and humiliating climbing rolling pulling I had to do just to get up on that concrete slab. Barely slept all night-Was awake before everyone @ 6am and could not get back in bed w/o waking someone. WiFi was horrible-my Cell Data was faster. Breakfast area & pool overrun with hordes of unsupervised children. Tried several times to get coffee throughout the morning but it was always empty. Waffle batter was depleted by children making several waffles as soon as staff brought more batter. Booked well in advance only to find the rate was SIGNIFICANTLY lower the day I checked in-should have just taken my chances and not reserved ahead of time. Train directly behind the building woke the rest of my party up at 8am on a Saturday. No comfortable nights sleep, no coffee, no breakfast & I overpaid by a LOT. Wouldn’t recommend, would go there again if it was Free. Only nice thing I can say is It was clean & the staff was very nice.

Nothing in room to tell TV Channels, no breakfast time. In most hotels breakfast goes till 10 on weekends. Took granddaughter to get breakfast 9:10. They were cleaning up. There was milk and cold cereal out so I processed to get her a bowl. I thought lady was goi g ripe bowl out of my hand. She said I said breakfast was over. I took bowl of cereal to room with us. Just wish the lady had been nicer. I just wanted to feed grand baby.

Great overnight stay with kids. Staff was amazing.

I did not like the noise level. There were a lot of kids and teenagers there that were running through the hallways (seems like they did not have parental supervision) thar caused the increase of the noise level. I also did not like what sounded like a fire drill or alarm that went off at 6 or 7 something in the morning. It truly alarmed me and my husband and woke us up out of our sleep to the point that we were ready to leave instantly because we didn’t know what was going on. On the other hand, the room was very spacious, the jetted tub was exactly what we needed, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, I would give the hotel a 3 out of 5 only because of those two major factors that disturbed us both.

I would never be coming back here again. The elevators are broke. They did not have our room ready an hour and half AFTER check in time. When we did get to our room a staff member walked into our room without even knocking. There was a smoke detector that was beeping all night in the hallway that I asked them to fix but they didn't. We had a room next to the stairs and all you heard was the stair door slamming and voices in the stairwell through my room wall. The place could be so much better if they had better staff that fixed the things broken. Thankfully, I am local because I went home to sleep because of the noise and came back to pick up my family who stayed to swim the next day. Sad that you have to leave to sleep after paying for a room.
