DoubleTree by Hilton Boston - Downtown

Specifically booked this hotel over another hotel because Expedia claimed it has a pool. However, it does not. Instead it has access to the YMCA pool next door which has very limited hours for 'family swim' (as opposed to 'lap swim'.) I am annoyed because this was the deciding factor and I paid more money on the promise of a pool. But the staff are very pleasant, and proximity to public transit is great, and you get a cookie on arrival.

The Doubletree downtown Boston (aka Chinatown) was nice and clean with friendly staff. The room was pretty small but that was totally fine. My wife and I however felt we were rather duped by Expedia's description, which clearly states "Indoor pool (guest access)". While technically true, that is a fairly disingenuous statement. The pool in question is not actually at the hotel but rather at the nearby YMCA, which leaving the hotel, walking across the roof of the YMCA (yes, that's right) and then registering with the YMCA, filling out waivers, etc., then finally joining in for lap swim. Thankfully when we went it was not very busy and so the lifeguard let my children use one lane for playing and splashing about. The whole reason we booked the Doubletree was because we knew that after a day of walking the Freedom Trail and exploring Boston there would be nothing more our children would love than an hour in the pool. Having two kids going bananas and being frustrated at the delay while you are filling out form after form was really annoying.

I liked it to facility was directly across the street from the hospital where I was visiting a family member.

Location and staff were great. Room was lovely and clean,small issue fan did not work in bathroom and tub drain very slow. Great dinner at restaurant, would stay again. Note, attached to YMCA, so children playing courtyard. Noise was fine.

Had family member in Tufts Medical for extended period. Hotel directly across the street, within block of theater district and numerous restaurants. Caring staff and willing to assist anyway you need.
