Holiday Inn Express Kansas City - at the Legends, an IHG Hotel

Our room was large, it was on the first floor and close enough to the side entrance which was very convenient for packing/unpacking. The property felt safe (traveled with toddler) and super close to The Legends outlet mall and the main highway. The front desk and cleaning/maintenance staff were super friendly. What we didnt like was the first night the pool and hot tub were under maintenance, then the second and third night the pool was open but the hot tub was still closed and the pool was COLD, so so cold - my energetic toddler still enjoyed it but was very uncomfortable for us adults. This next one is more of a personal preference but the pillows were way too soft. I also wish they had a Change Machine in the laundry room - the front desk staff didnt have quarters available.

This hotel needs some TLC. The breakfast and comfort of the sheets were great. I loved that there was a fan and a permanent night light in the bathroom, not many hotels have those features. The faucets were nice and the water was very hot. But the carpet was gross (it was actually sticky), the sofa mattress was beyond disgusting, the elevator buttons were finicky to get to work, the bathroom looked as if someone had painted poorly over a bunch of mildew and wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The pool towels were so tiny, my children needed four to dry off. The fitness room didn’t have any weights, only cardio equipment. Our room had an odd smell to it. When I asked for bedding for the pull out sofa, the front desk handed everything to me to haul upstairs on my own without offering to send it up, or help me carry it. One of the beds was actually falling apart and we had to put it back together after our child tripped on part of it. We had a quick overnight here as we passed through town or we would have requested a different room altogether.

The staff were very professional and polite check in took maybe 2 minutes. The hotel was clean and the area is great. I recommend this hotel for anyone with or without kids

Our check in was fine but our group with 34 rooms was a disaster!!! The manager had quit so the desk people let kids check in without adults and then no one knew who was in what room. We had submitted room lists weeks before hand!! What a wreck and completely disorganized!!!

Great place to stay with kids. It's super clean, friendly staff, smell good, great breakfast and nice pool, the water is warm. It's close to restaurants and retails stores. Traffic is light.

There was pubic hair in the shower, bed was comfortable, staff was friendly. There was freezing rain and no one put salt out to help with the sidewalk being slick, I felt that was irresponsible. There is no insulation, I could hear people walking upstairs, any time they open the door, kids were running up and down the hallway, making loud noise, and the room behind us. The kids had a man jumping on the bed because it was moving our headboard. I completely understand kids making noise but the walls have any insulation at all. It would’ve been so loud,

We came in to check in at 4:10. We didn’t receive our keys then due to our room not being ready. We waited and waited and waited. Finally after about a hour we talked to the man at the front desk about our room still wasn’t ready. Then about 30 minutes later asked again. Still wasn’t ready but we were told there was a room with to queens available but said no because there was a family that obviously needed that room. Waited again after 30 minutes our room was finally ready. Overall waited 2 hours while kids were running around being loud but that’s just part of it and I understand it’s not the man at the front desks fault but seriously 2 hours!!?!?! People that got there wayyy after got their rooms wayyy before us. There was just zero communication between people. And to add to that got to the room tv didn’t work had to go down twice to finally get help. Thank you to the very kind manager at the time for coming up immediately to help us.

One of my peeves is when motels don't tell parents and their loud kids to behave. The first night was AWFUL with the kids running around. ALSO--the pool was "closed for maintenance" for 2 days--withgout any maintenance going on. If you advertise amenities, make sure they're available

Very disappointed with our weekend at this hotel. We booked here specifically for the hot tub and pool. Upon arrival to the hotel, we find out that the hot tub had been down for days due to mechanical issues, and the pool was also down due to chlorine levels. We were unable to cancel due to their policy. So we had to stay two nights in a hotel with kids, and no pool.

Room next to us had kids up till 1:30am running the halls, screaming, stomping. The bed sheets were not the cleanest. Stains and hair everywhere. The carpet felt sticky…
