Comfort Inn Bonner Springs Kansas City

I like that it’s easy access right off I-70. I was in the area to visit my daughter for her sorority’s “Dad’s Weekend” at KU. This hotel is only a half hour drive to Lawrence. Hotels in Lawrence are $300-$400/nt on KU Football wknds. I think I paid around $135/nt. I’ll gladly drive an extra 20 minute or so to save $200 . And it’s right on my way into Lawrence from where I live in Iowa. Staff was friendly. Room was just fine….clean, comfy, quiet. Had a nice King bed & a little sitting area w sofa & TV. I needed it to shower/change, then sleep there one night & check out the next morning….18 hrs total. It was perfect for my needs this trip. Had the complimentary breakfast, pretty standard hotel fare….scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, bread, bagels, etc. There is a Waffle House next door but I didn’t have time to go there instead. Convenience Store right there as well (7-11 I think) to get gas, snacks, drinks if you need. Hotel did have a small sundries area next to front desk with a cooler of pop, bottled water, chips, candy bars etc to purchase. It didn’t affect me at all, but they did tell me the pool area was closed. I didn’t ask why or for how long cuz I didn’t need it. But for ppl traveling w families, this might make a difference. Might want to check before booking if this matters to you.

We frequent KC a lot for softball. When I discovered this hidden gem that is 10 minutes from the fields, I was really excited. Location is GREAT. Lots of eating nearby, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, fuel all right there near the hotel. Facilities are super nice. Just remodeled. Clean. Comfortable bedding. No complaints with the hotel at all. Definitely on the nicer end of "budget" hotels. That said, customer service left a little to be desired. The first night we arrived, our next door neighbor started watching their TV in the middle of the night. LOUDLY. Morning rolled around, my entire family did not sleep well because of it. TV still going at 9AM. Go to the front desk (the TV can actually be heard in the lobby) and let them know that the guests in that room kept us up and we would appreciate it if they talked to them. Guy at the front desk assured us that he would. Saturday night now, 11:30 PM...neighbors TV gets going again. Can hear the entire dialogue CLEARLY through the wall. Call the front desk, complain. Guy says he will take care of it. Quiet for about 45 minutes, just enough time to doze off when the neighbor turns it back on even louder. Call the front desk again and he says "The guest is hard of hearing so we can't ask them to turn it down. We can move you to a new room though." His solution at 12:30 AM is to pack up a family of 4 and move them to a new room. How is that even a possible thought? Good hotel, not so good of service.

Well kept, clean hotel with an indoor pool. Pet friendly too which was essential for our family.
