Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shawnee-Kansas City West, an IHG Hotel

Staying to be close to family. They accommodated us when we needed to extend our stay due to illness in our family. We appreciated being able to stay in the same room when we had to extend. We were grateful for their excellent service!!

Kind staff, clean, nice pool, nice rooms, quiet. Great stay, especially for a family with young kiddos. They have cribs and extra sheets to use.

Employees were great. The lady in the afternoon especially. She was cheerful and she also handeled the issues she was dealing with like a pro. Everything else was Disappointing. For starters there card reader to open hotel rooms broke down and it made it so the employees had to come unlock our doors every time we left the room. That also goes with the Pool, we had to get let in. I also feel like the room felt dirty and we were lacking in towels at the pool and we had very few in our room. Also the air conditioner in the room was set at 78 degrees and it took a very long time to get it below 70. The room and the building in general were very warm. Before we went to bed, we were going to play some TV to get our toddler to calm down and relax. Unfortunately the TV near the bed was not playing cable. I looked behind the TV and saw that the coax was plugged into the TV. Thankfully the 2nd TV in the room was working but that meant not being able to lay in bed and instead sit on the couch. After a long day of traveling and site seeing coming to the motel exhausted and ready to relax, sadly instead the experience we received added to the exhaustion as well as caused un needed stress.

We had a wonderful stay here! The room was great! We especially thought the pillows and beds were comfortable! We were disappointed the pool wasn't able to be used, but would still 100% recommend this hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a lot of options to make our whole family happy. My husband loved the eggs with cheese!

This is a very nice hotel. We did a family weekend trip and the room with the pull out couch worked perfect for little ones to sleep on. Breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was full with softball tournament girls and families. Our stay was quiet. We have stayed here before and this experience was much better.

The worst. Air conditioning was out. Manager told me they had no one coming to fix. Gave us another room. Elevators were broken! Also told there was no one coming to fix. Walked up flights of stairs to find the room we were given was occupied and dirty! Went back down to desk to inform and expressed concerns over safety handing out key access to others’ rooms. The manager gave us another room. I asked if this room was clean and ready. She promised it was. She told me it wasn’t a problem with their system or how they handled things. Went up flights of stairs. Same thing- next room was occupied!!! Went down again to talk to manager. Guess what.. “she was gone”. No apology. The worst hotel I’ve stayed. Would have left but all hotels in the area were booked. The next room we were given had a blind shade that was broken and wouldn’t pull down so don’t plan to get sleep. It was 90 degrees that day. No water for those standing in line for 45 minutes to get room. Clerk busy texting on her phone. You could smell gas in the hotel. While I was handling my issues, a family came down and expressed concerns about it as well. They were dismissed by the clerk and no gas leak check was alerted to fire dept. If you like chaos, frustration, lack of safety, poor customer service… this is the place for you! Enjoy!

We found the attitude of some staff and the ad hoc signage to be family-hostile.

Great bed, pillows, and bedlinen. Nice room size and toilet. Shower was great, too. Safe and cable tv working well. Clean, although the carpet may not be to walk on bare feet. Unfortunately the family staying opposite to my room was very loud and careless enought to slam their door at least 10 times on sunday at around 7 am. Breakfast was ok. Superb value for money.

Hotel was great but there was a large group staying there that included kids. I had to call front desk several times because of the constant thumping above me and running. Front desk told me that they were receiving tons of complaints. Please put groups with kids on the first floor. I had two kids with me that were annoyed at the commotion as well.
