DISAPPOINTED!! I have stayed at this hotel multiple times in my life. It really used to be a very nice hotel. However, this time, the moment you stepped into main lobby, it had a bad smell, the staff was dressed like bums and had no clue what was going on. The hot water was turned up so hot that you couldn't even stand to be under the water for a shower. I told the front desk multiple times, but nothing ever changed. I'm SHOCKED a child didn't get burned by how hot the water was. The breakfast was very minimal, and looking at the ones preparing it, my family would not eat. Outside the hotel was very sketchy as people were walking the streets and yelling at us as we were walking in at night. We spent an entire week here and will never go back. Do not spend the money staying here!

NO!! We booked this last minute on a road trip. The man at the front desk was very nice, and I could tell that it was an older hotel so I gave them a pass on the front area. My family of 5, which includes young children, had one room while my mother in law had another. We headed towards the elevator when a woman walked out and it smelled like she was smoking (not cigarettes) while in the elevator. It was strong- I’m 4/20 friendly but this was too much. We proceeded to our rooms and there were large fans everywhere- clearly a room had flooded and they were drying something- it smelled. We enter our rooms to be absolutely disgusted. Our room had stains on the pillows, and the AC unit was packed with dust and dirt- it smelled very bad. I’m surprised air could come out it! What’s worse is that my mother in law entered her room and found mouse droppings all over the chair & stains on everything from curtains, chair, and pillows! We took pictures & left immediately. Since we booked same day, it was non-refundable. We went to Doubletree by Hilton and contacted Expedia which told us they would tell the owner we requested a refund for justifying reasons, with pictures, but there was no guarantee. Expedia gave me extra points for my trouble because that was a valid compliment & unsanitary. We’ve not heard back about the refund but I’m guessing no. Do not go here- go to Doubletree! Worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

Our stay was fine - it satisfied what we needed and the staff was friendly. Our room could have used some updated furniture, but the bed/pillows were comfortable and the lamps had wireless charging which were useful when our charging cords were forgotten. Complimentary breakfast was a perk, however, we could have used a separate sleeping area for our infant. Unfortunately only one pack/play was available and already reserved for another customer. Other than that, hotel was conveniently located near the historic district which allowed us to explore many of the sites.

Our family did a weekend get a way to Springfield and this hotel was a perfect fit. Located walking distance to the Lincoln Museum, Library and Old Capital. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Free parking and breakfast too. The breakfast was average but good enough to start your day off.

We stayed in Springfield to experience the history surrounding Pres. Lincoln, and needed a room for just one night. The Carpenter Street Hotel was perfect for us. Affordable with good reviews and a continental breakfast for the family made it a win. The bonus is location. We easily walked to a restaurant, a full grocery store, and even the capitol building. The staff was nice, even when we spilled a little coffee on the counter. Would stay here again.

In town to help family member and need simple clean accommodation for one night. This hotel is a great fit for people in town for medical reasons as it is very close to the major hospital services. Room was spacious and clean beds were comfortable air conditioner worked and bathroom was clean. There are no real amenities to speak of but the manager on duty whose name I unfortunately did not get was so helpful, efficient, kind and helpful.
