Freddie was extremely helpful with our room. We appreciated that he recognized us from prior stays. Out granddaughters stayed with us in suite and it was perfect!
Wish the pool was more amenable to younger kids, the floor was slippery 🙁

My first night was terrible. I brought my family to the city to have a fun and safe time. The overnight staff were very rude and not friendly. They made my small children and I feel very uncomfortable. I spoke with the daytime supervisor and she assured me that would not happen again, but that was not the customer service I expected to receive at any point of our stay.

Overall service was great. Hotel and room was aged. Breakfast on the second floor was good but the service was lacking and rude. During our stay my kids returned to the hotel early and both of their keys were demagnetized. Not only were they not able to fix the issue and had to sit alone in public but I had to cut my day short to come back and make sure they could get in. To further agrávate the situation all our keys did not work. When I went to the front desk, the woman clearly did not seem concerned with the safety concerns or our inconvenience. Clearly a hidden potential jewel that missed the mark

Our staying in the hotel was great, it is a very beautiful traditional hotel, the employees were very friendly and nice with us, the breakfast was not incredible but it was very good.
Just few things to take note: when we arrived the bedroom was smelling a little bit humid, not a fresh or air clean smell, when we opened the nightstand, there was a black trash plastic bag inside, considering the whole room was clean, that issue was not a big concern. Most of the men lockers at Gym/Spa were not working properly.
We considered that the classic two bed room is not comfortable for a 4 family member, if you have small kids you would be okey, but in our case with an 11 and 12 years old kids, the beds were too small.

We have stayed at many hotels in and around the Chicago area and this is one of our favorites now. We were in town for a mini family getaway and wanted a hotel that was on Michigan avenue that was close to everything. This hotel fit the bill and did not disappoint. Check in time was at 3:00 but we arrived at around 9:00 am and they had a room ready for us. We checked in super early and we were able to start our vacation. EVERYONE in the hotel was exceptionally nice and always said hello or was willing to chat for a few mins. The best part, however, may have been the indoor pool on the 14th floor. It was built in 1929 and has been untouched since then. It’s literally like stepping back in time. They have “Dive in movie” nights on Friday and Saturday nights (family movies) and they are VERY popular. If you want a spot in the pool then I would recommend getting there early. I really can’t say enough good things about this hotel. From the staff to the convenience of being close to almost everything, this is the best hotel that we’ve stayed in while in Chicago. We will definitely be returning!

Only 1 of 2 elevators working to the higher floors, bell captains said they didn’t know it was down, when checking in, I wasn’t informed of how long we would have to wait for the elevator each time we use it, wound up being late for dinner and following days lunch. Needed to leave for the fitness center massages early enough to make it.
The correct way to of handled this for customers knowing how everyone comes on these platforms to rate your experiences, the manager should have the front desk check in notify the guest at check in that they are experiencing maintenance on the higher floor elevators and you could have a wait, if you want me to put you in a lower floor, I can make that Happen. Instead, let all this be mentioned in the reviews. Come on Intercontinental, this isn’t 1996 anymore. Why stress a guest out especially coming from Michigan for a quick easy drive, wouldn’t you want us to come Back in winter when it’s the low season in the Windy City? I will say, guys like me that speak up and ask for a manager, he knew they were in the wrong and offered the 1 out of 2 nights for free, and when I told him in room breakfast took waaaaaaaay tooooo long, food and sides were cold, cappy was cold. Glad the ice water was cold but the food? The manager took that off the bill too. Bottom line, I didn’t get the stress free R&R weekend that we planned on.
Massages itself were great in fitness center but the loud noise of all the kids playing in pool was a let down. Too close..

The pool is fantastic, however it would be nice to have some time set aside for just adults or perhaps part of the pool. I love children but it was hard to get in any laps in. Thanks!
